Dear Mayor and City Council:
I am a citizen of Milton and I am a business property owner on the Southwest corner of the Birmingham
Crossroads. When I purchased my property several years ago, I did so with the clear understanding that
the Crossroads would be governed by the Birmingham Master Plan (Plan) and the Milton Overlay
(Overlay). I knew that I could have confidence in the preservation of the quality of the growth that will
occur on all 4 corners as a consequence of the Plan and the Overlay.
While I appreciate there is discretion vested in the Council to consider minor adjustments to the Plan and
Overlay, I strongly believe that the requested variances are not in the category of "minor" adjustments.
Now is the time when the Council is in a place to send a clear message that greater density and visibility
not contemplated by the Plan and Overlay will not be accommodated. The City of Milton staff agrees
and has recommended denial based on a very careful analysis of the variances being sought by the
developer.
I respectfully encourage the Council to deny this zoning modification and its concurrent variances.
