I am writing to request that council reject the above application as recommended by staff.
We see all too often that developers do not do enough homework before they purchase property
then find that they cannot make as much profit as they originally projected and EXPECT that
council will provide them with a variance to improve the profitability of their project. This is
not council's job. Their job is to represent their constituents best interests.
The developers then usually threaten council by reference to the constitution (which does
not guarantee profits) or clearcutting the property to comply with the applicable ordinance. This is
reprehensible and should not be rewarded with an approved variance.
This requested variance is not minor and is not in compliance with the overlay.
