The bridge on Hwy. 140 over Little River is almost completed. We are at the consultant design
phase of Freemanville/Birmingham road improvements. The projects that are ongoing with
preliminary design plans are the Hopewell/Hamby, Thompson, and Bethany. In about two weeks
we will begin the Heritage Walk crosswalks. We will advise our citizens of detours that will need
to be taken during the project. The Freemanville/Providence roundabout is still under construction
and is scheduled for a summer 2019 completion.
Bob Edgar, Fire Chief
We had a major septic system failure at Station 42 which led to tiles being ruined then we
discovered asbestos. So, the firefighters have been relocated to another location while we clean
up the station. We hope to be back in the station soon. Our new engine is expected to be delivered
next week and we will have a ceremony to introduce it to the community in the near future. Our
2019 MDA boot drive started last week, and our firefighters collected over $15,000 on their first
day. Our firefighter, Chris Seay, used his own money and purchased a brick with the City of
Milton logo to be displayed at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg,
Maryland.
Sarah LaDart, Economic Development Manager
We had our first Milton Corridor Conversation on February 21" at Fire Station 43. We had thirteen
guests and we discussed the opportunities that they envision for the Birmingham Crossroads area.
Our next conversation is on March 21 S` at City Hall. At this event, we will invite Milton businesses
that have been in business for two years or less. The Friends of Mark Law Fund has raised $6,670
which is only $230 away from the Arts Council being able to fully fund the Mark Law Memorial
roundabout statue.
