HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - PRAB - 07-16-2020 MEETING MINUTES CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, July 16, 2020 Council Chambers, Milton City Hall CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Stachowski at 6:30 PM. ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski. MEMBERS PRESENT Scott Stachowski Jason Alberici Esteban Colina Sean-Michael Yonson OTHERS PRESENT Stacey Inglis, Assistant City Manager Tom McKlveen, Program Manager Thomas Rhodes, Parks and Recreation Specialist Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski. PRAB – July 16, 2020 Page 2 of 4 APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA Changes: Move Drama Program proposal up after Public Comment A motion to approve the meeting agenda was made by Mr. Alberici and seconded by Mr. Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion to approve the June 18, 2020 meeting minutes was made by Mr. Yonson and seconded by Mr. Colina. The vote passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT None New Business – Moved up before Committee Reports a. Xtreme Talent School of Arts Inc. – Sky Coffee and Trevor David • Presentation for Drama Program/Talent Class at Milton Facilities • Services – Proposing 1hr classes 1 – 3 times a week - Youths ages 5 – 18yrs • Curriculum Breakdown and Goals • Proposal of Class Schedule - Fall and Winter breakdown - Spring breakdown A motion to approve discussion with Xtreme Talent School of Arts Inc. was made by Mr. Alberici and was seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. b. Wall of Fame Nominations • 18 nominees on 2020 Ballot • Ballots to be submitted August 13th • Suggestions to change the form for Wall of Fame - Define when accomplishments take place - Better breakdown for easier scoring - Character limit on nomination form PRAB – July 16, 2020 Page 3 of 4 COMMITTEE REPORTS a. Hopewell Baseball – Esteban Colina • Extended Spring Season is coming to an end • All-Stars continuing to play at Bell Memorial Park and outside tournaments b. Boys and Girls Lacrosse – Joey Costanzo & Jason Alberici • Summer camps and programs ending at Bell Memorial Park • Eagle Stix participation in tournaments at other parks • Boys – No activity scheduled c. NAFL Football – Sean-Michael Yonson • Evaluations taking place at North Park on 7/16 and 7/17 • Players will be notified what team they are playing for week of July 20th • August 13th anticipated start of season d. Half Time Sports Basketball – Phil Cranmer • Summer Camps taking place at Mill Springs Academy • Reduced capacity of campers in effort to keep COVID 19 number low • Fall/Winter season are in holding pattern with Fulton County Schools and delayed start to school year e. Milton Mustangs Swim Team -Dave Shannon • No 2020 Swim Team f. Milton Tennis - Dave Shannon • Court reservation and lesson taking place • Reporting great numbers/participation • Formation of new Tennis Team g. Arts Programming – Scott Stachowski • Online camps have been offered • Low registration leads to Summer Camp cancellations UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. Discussion on City Email Policy - Collect remaining signatures from board members PRAB – July 16, 2020 Page 4 of 4 CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS a. Staff Update b. Former Milton Country Club Update - Mold remediation complete - Inside demolition complete - City working closely with contractors to complete project c. Cox Road Athletic Complex - Closed grass fields for rest during the Summer - Heavy use with local soccer programs - Working on IT issues; controlling the field lights remotely d. Camp Joyful Soles - Cancelled July camps for safety concerns and limited staff OTHER BUSINESS Questions/Concerns • How to advise programs to act if COVID 19 cases breakout? • What is the city’s stance/plan if program participants begin testing positive for COVID 19? ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Alberici. The motion was seconded by Mr. Yonson. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The meeting was ended by Mr. Stachowski at 7:18 PM.
