HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - PRAB - 10-17-2019 MEETING MINUTES CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, October 17, 2019 Council Chambers, Milton City Hall CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Stachowski at 6:30 PM. ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski. MEMBERS PRESENT Scott Stachowski Dave Shannon Jason Alberici Phil Cranmer Joey Costanzo OTHERS PRESENT Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Program Manager Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski. PRAB - October 17, 2019 Page 2 of 4 APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA A motion to approve the meeting agenda was made by Mr. Shannon and seconded by Mr. Alberici. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion to approve the September 19, 2019 meeting minutes was made by Mr. Alberici and seconded by Mr. Cranmer. The vote passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT None COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. Hopewell Youth Association o Season is heading towards the playoffs. 2. Eagle Stix o Season is going well. 3. NAFL o No report UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Discussion on the future program offerings of the City of Milton Parks and Recreation Department. o After short discussion, the board made a recommendation to City Council in the form of a motion. A motion to support out of city fees for senior programming not done at the Adult Activity Center and youth softball programming in the form of a reimbursement PRAB - October 17, 2019 Page 3 of 4 program was made by Mr. Cranmer. It was seconded by Mr. Alberici. The vote passed unanimously. 2. Discussion on the 5-year growth projection of program partners. o The tennis court needs are addressed in the Former Mil ton Country Club Master Plan o For the baseball program, 4 more fields are needed to support the growth of registration o Basketball is in need of 4 more courts, or one court with unrestricted access. o A motion was made by Mr. Cranmer to recommend to Council that we address the Former Milton Country Club Master Plan to build two more tennis courts, increase baseball field capacity by four fields, and increase gymnasium capacity by four with one of those four having unrestricted usage. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shannon. The vote passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS 1. Discussion on Lacrosse at Bell Memorial Park o The idea of field #1 at Bell Memorial Park being used for baseball has been discussed in the past. This upcoming spring, it will go into effect to accommodate the growth and rainouts that baseball usually endures in the spring season. o If there are openings with field space, discussion on allowing lacrosse programming on the field will be entertained. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Mr. McKlveen has announced the hiring of a new full-time employee in the department. The start date of the individual was unknown. PRAB - October 17, 2019 Page 4 of 4 2. The City has a signed contract with United Futbol Academy to buy the soccer complex located off Cox Road in Milton. The city is currently in the due diligence period and setting up inspections of various aspects of the property. OTHER BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Alberici. The motion was seconded by Mr. Cranmer. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The meeting was ended by Mr. Stachowski at 7:17 PM.
