ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski. MEMBERS PRESENT Scott Stachowski Ron Hill Jason Alberici Dave Shannon Sean -Michael Yonson OTHERS PRESENT Jim Cregge, Parks and Recreation Director Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Program Manager Ryan Flack, Parks and Recreation Intern Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski. APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA A motion to amend the agenda, adding the MOU discussion to new business was made by Mr. Shannon and seconded by Mr. Alberici. The vote passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT None Election of Officers o Chairman: Mr. Hill nominated Mr. Stachowski. It was seconded by Mr. Alberici. Passed unanimously. o Vice Chairman: Mr. Alberici nominated Mr. Shannon. It was seconded by Mr. Hill. Passed unanimously. o Secretary: Mr. Alberici nominated Mr. Costanzo. It was seconded by Mr. Hill. Passed unanimously. o Hopewell Baseball Appointee: Mr. Alberici nominated Mr. Yonson.-It was seconded by Mr. Hill. Passed unanimously. o Eagle Stix Appointee: Mr. Yonson nominated Mr. Costanzo and Mr. Alberici. Mr. Costanzo's nomination was seconded by Mr. Hill. Mr. Alberici's nomination was seconded by Mr. Shannon. Both passed unanimously. COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. Hopewell Youth Association o Early and regular registration has ended. Late registration is still taking registrations. This season will have high participation. Eagle Stix o Registration and planning are in full swing. The season begins in a couple weeks. There will be a coaches meeting on 1 /26 in Community Place. Spring registration numbers are not complete yet. 3. Milton Steelers o The Milton Steelers and the City of Milton have parted ways. UNFINISHED BUSINESS o None NEW BUSINESS 1_. Discussion of MOU o Jay Beta Mr. Beta is concerned about gymnastics. Currently, his annual cost has gone up by $1,000. If his child were to go to competitive, it would be $1,300-1,400 more. If the city wants to start a gym without proper equipment, don't start at all. o Megan Small- Mrs. Small is a mother of four with all her children taking part in classes at the Alpharetta Recreation Center. In total her children take part in eight classes. She pays approximately $300 per child and without the MOU her fees will increase 75%. She understands the need to build for the future but is concerned with how her family will navigate the present with the increase in fees. 2. Comprehensive City -Wide Master Plan o Jim Cregge- PRAB will vote on the new Master Plan next meeting. This plan will create the guide book of where we are at and where we need to go. New Program Offerings o Jim Cregge- we are looking to change the typical model and going to businesses in Milton or outside Milton to partner with. Businesses based in Milton are given priority over non -Milton businesses. o Jason Alberick Stated this model worked well for him in his past. He's had experience with this sort of model. o Scott Stachowski- He mentioned that the trick is to find the popular programs. Do we branch out to offer this to competing programs under the same sport? All members feel it is something to pursue. 4. New Employee o Ryan Flack- Ryan has started an internship with the City of Milton. He's a student at the University of Mississippi and working towards finishing a degree in Recreational Administration. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Jim Cregge o Shade structure project - concerns about bid responses - rebidding the project. o Lacrosse wall -will be ready forbid in the next couple of weeks. o BUMC Field - Agreed on the Lease of the field. Work is ongoing. o Milton Steelers - Officially parted ways. Things have worked out for both parties. RFP for football has been released. Hopewell Youth Association o Early registration has ended. Numbers are about 2x higher at this point than they were at this point Fast year. Overall participation should be high. 2. Eagle Stix o Merry Laxmas tournament was successful. Teams are getting formed for spring. 3. Milton Steelers o The season has officially ended. One team from the program made it to the Pop Warner championships in Florida. They made it to the championship game. UNFINISHED BUSINESS o None NEW BUSINESS 1. Meeting schedule for 2019 o The board discussed and then made a motion to move the meetings to the evenings at 6:30pm on the third Thursday of each month. o The motion was made by Mr. Cranmer, and seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Jim Cregge o Design plan is in process for the lacrosse wall at Bell Memorial Park o The lease with Birmingham United Methodist Church was approved by council o Concessions were rebid and the won by Wanna Play Baseball o The shade structure bid for the Bell Memorial Park playground will be rebid again 2. Tom McKlveen o Program evaluations/surveys are back.
