HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - PRAB - 09-05-2018 MEETING MINUTES CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Wednesday, September 5, 2018 Council Chambers, Milton City Hall CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Mr. Stachowski at 7:02 PM. ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski. MEMBERS PRESENT Scott Stachowski Jason Alberici Joey Costanzo Phil Cranmer Dave Shannon (Late) Ron Hill (Late) Sean-Michael Yonson OTHERS PRESENT Jim Cregge, Parks and Recreation Director Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Program Manager Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski. APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA A motion to approve the agenda was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded by Mr. Alberici. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion was made by Mr. Alberici and seconded by Mr. Cranmer to approve the July 2018 minutes. The vote passed unanimously. September 5, 2018 - PRAB Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 3 PUBLIC COMMENT None COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. Hopewell Youth Association o No report 2. Eagle Stix o Fields are looking good. o Season begins 9/8/18 3. Milton Steelers o No report UNFINISHED BUSINESS o Capacity Planning o What are the needs? Rank the order of fields that are needed o Purchase more land o Parks and Recreation Department Goals o What programs do we want to offer? o Programs such as swim lessons, teen league basketball, cheerleading, lifeguard certification classes, babysitting classes and volleyball were mentioned as easy programs to start since the City of Milton has the facilities available to host them. o MOU Discussion o Many options were floated by the board. Some included terminate the MOU, negotiate to get the 1.5 multiplier removed, negotiate to have the co-offered programs removed and keep the MOU as it is today. o Commission Fees o The discussion to change the commission structure for City of Milton program providers was discussed. The board was divided as to a flat fee ($25 was discussed) per participant and keeping the structure the same at 15% of registration fees. There was also the idea floated of having a cost to use facility space, similar to renting the fields/locations. o All the items in unfinished business were tabled and will be discussed further at the next Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting. The motion was made by Mr. Shannon, and seconded by Mr. Hill. The vote passed unanimously. September 5, 2018 - PRAB Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 3 NEW BUSINESS 1. No new business CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS o Mr. Cregge reported on the pool filtration pump failing on the 9/1/18. The pool was repaired and it will be open for one more weekend on 9/8 & 9/9. o The contract is almost completed to have the Providence Park lodge demolished. OTHER BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT Motion made to adjourn by Mr. Alberici. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shannon. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The meeting was ended by Mr. Stachowski at 9:03 PM.
