ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Shannon. MEMBERS PRESENT Joey Costanzo Phil Cranmer Dave Shannon Sean -Michael Yonson OTHERS PRESENT Jim Cregge, Parks and Recreation Director Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Program Manager Quorum was announced by Mr. Shannon. APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA A motion to approve the agenda was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded by Mr. Yonson to approve the September 2018 minutes. Hopewell Youth Association o Early registration has ended. Numbers are about 2x higher at this point than they were at this point last year. Overall participation should be high. 2. Eagle Stix o Merry Laxmas tournament was successful. Teams are getting formed for spring. 3. Milton Steeiers o The season has officially ended. One team from the program made it to the Pop Warner championships in Florida. They made it to the championship game. UNFINISHED BUSINESS o None NEW BUSINESS Meeting schedule for 2019 o The board discussed and then made a motion to move the meetings to the evenings at 6:30pm on the third Thursday of each month. o The motion was made by Mr. Cranmer, and seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Jim Cregge o Design plan is in process for the lacrosse wall at Bell Memorial Park o The lease with Birmingham United Methodist Church was approved by council o Concessions were rebid and the won by Wanna Play Baseball o The shade structure bid for the Bell Memorial. Park playground will be rebid again 2. Tom McKlveen o Program evaluations/surveys are back. ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski. Milton Steelers o No report UNFINISHED BUSINESS MOU Discussion: 1) Hypothetical question - If Alpharetta is unwilling to negotiate, are we okay with losing the MOU? • Mr. Cranmer indicated that eliminating the MOU is an acceptable outcome, and take care of residents on our own end. • Mr. Alberici thinks we should try to negotiate, but walking away is acceptable • Mr. Shannon thinks we scrap the whole MOU besides activity in North Park 2) What do we want in the agreement? • The multiplier has to go • Keep support of the seniors at the Alpharetta Adult Activity Center ® Removal of co -offered programs • How do we come to an agreement on paying or not paying for specific programs? • Dedicate the savings to a capital fund 3) A motion was made to recommend the five items regarding the MOU to the elected officials. The motion was made by Mr. Alberici and seconded by Mr. Cranmer. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. Commission Fees: 1) There was an extended discussion regarding the commission fees. The problem has proved quite challenging to address a ratio of fairness, based upon the value of the fields, the facilities available (lights, bathrooms, etc.) and the number of touches per sport. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shannon and the motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS l . HYA Liaison - New member Mr. Yonson is actively involved at HYA baseball and has a better connection as a liaison. He expressed an interest in serving in that role. 2. A motion was made by Mr. Stachowski to replace Mr. Shannon with Mr. Yonson as the HYA Liaison. The motion was seconded by Mr. Alberici and it was passed by a unanimous vote. CITY STAFF REPORTS ANDCOMMUNICATIONS o Mr. Cregge reported that there has been no communication from the Milton Steelers regarding the Adult Flag Football program. o Mr. Cregge reported that there will be multiple meetings for public input regarding the former Milton Country Club. The incorrect dates were discussed at the meeting. (A revised schedule of dates was distributed via email the next day.) o Mr. Cregge discussed the highlights of the new FYI budget. Included in the budget is funding for a lacrosse wall at Bell Park, a new IGA rectangular field, an IGA with Birmingham United Methodist Church for the baseball field, 4 new basketball goals and a part time employee. OTHER BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Alberici. The motion was seconded by Mr. Cranmer.
