MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION
ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, May 18, 2017

CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by Mr. Stachowski at 11:35 AM.
ROLL CALL
Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski.

OTHERS PRESENT
Jim Cregge, Parks and Recreation Director
Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Program Manager
Shannon Ferguson, Communications Manager, City of Milton
Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA
A motion to approve the agenda was made by Mr. Shannon and seconded by
Mr. Kottis. The vote passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES
A motion was made by Mr. Hill and seconded by Mr. Kottis to approve the April
2017 minutes. The vote passed unanimously.
May 18, 2017 - PRAB Meeting Minutes
COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Hopewell Youth Baseball – Rec season is complete. Successful season.
2. Eagle Stix- Season went well. Milton High School and Cambridge High
School will play for the girls’ state championship. All Milton and most
Cambridge players played for Eagle Stix.
3. Milton Steelers- Fall 2017. They are fielding K-7 tackle teams.
PUBLIC COMMENT
1. None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Dates
a. On June 15th, the meeting will remain at 11:30am. The meeting will
be moved to an alternate location in City Hall.
b. Moving forward, a decision has not been made. It was discussed
that alternating meetings each month from afternoon to evening
would be a good balance for the PRAB members and Milton
citizens.
c. A motion to table the discussion was made by Mr. Kottis. It was
seconded by Mr. Shannon. The motion was approved by
unanimous vote.
2. A motion to move the discussion on the Wall of Fame to the next meeting
was made by Mr. Kottis. It was seconded by Mr. Hill. The motion was
approved by a unanimous vote.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Milton Mini Libraries
a. Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts are able to provide them
b. The discussion as to where to put them became a challenge
c. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommended the
interested parties start discussion with the Friends of the Milton
Library group.

CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
1. Shannon Ferguson, Communications Manager, City of Milton
a. Her focus for Parks & Recreation incudes: Messaging increases,
driving a shared support of programs, building relationships with the
community, telling the stories of our programs, city messaging and
branding for our programs.
2. New Park Discussion
a. There has been discussion between City of Alpharetta and City of
Milton to partner for a new park near the border of the two cities.
No detailed discussion has commenced or can be reported.
3. Master Plan Report
a. City staff is working on dates for the plan
4. Program Status Report
a. Camp Joyful Soles registration is very strong, already at 36 campers
5. Ceremony for Cindy Hollingsworth
a. There will be a brief ceremony at Bell Memorial Park at 9:00 AM on
July 22 to dedicate three benches on the trail that have been built
in her honor.

Motion made to adjourn by Mr. Shannon. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Kottis. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote. The meeting was
ended by Mr. Stachowski at 12:58 PM.
