MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION
ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, July 17, 2014 11:30 a.m.

CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Scott Stachowski at 11:50 a.m.

There was no quorum so an official meeting was not held. However, in recognition of the
invited guests and the presentation to Wally Brittain, an informal meeting with no issues to be
voted on was held.

PRAB Meeting Minutes July 17, 2014
NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a) Sara Leaders and Carter Lucas provided a status report on Trails and the next steps.
Concepts for design are being developed and public meetings will be held in August
with a target date of October at the latest for a report.
b) Jim Cregge and the members of the PRAB who were present recognized Wallace
Brittain for his participation on the PRAB and he was presented a plaque for his
service.
c) Bell Memorial Park athletic field surface will be presented to Council for discussion
on August 4th meeting. The PRAB board members who were present reminded Jim
Cregge that in July 2012 they voted unanimously to recommend to council that any
rectangular fields built have a synthetic turf surface. All members in attendance at
this meeting re-affirmed their position that the fields should be synthetic turf.
d) Wall of Fame Selection Meeting is still to be scheduled by Jim Cregge.
e) After consideration, future PRAB meetings will be held in the Council Chambers.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Scott Stachowski reported that fall baseball season is under- enrolled. HYA will evaluate Fall
season plans. HYA also requested Travel schedules to be confirmed by end of August.
CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATION
a) Northwestern Middle School fields have been improved by City pursuant to FCBoE
IGA.
b) BMP closes on Sunday, August 3rd and Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on
Friday, August 8th.
c) HMS field improvements are on being developed and will be completed for Spring
baseball season.
d) Crabapple Community Center Update – The City has received multiple responses to the
RFP for the design/build of the new Crabapple Community Center. These proposals are
being evaluated now and a contractor decision should be in hand by the next meeting.
e) HB 60 became effective on July 1 and the City of Milton is changing access to City Hall
public spaces to ensure security.
