MEMBERS Larry Covington- not present Tamara Didjurgis-present Lis Drevet-present Julie Shannon-present Susan Day-present Carol Cookerly-not present Tony Rich- present OTHERS PRESENT Courtney Spriggs, Community Outreach Manager PUBLIC COMMENT No public comment NEW BUSINESS 1. Debrief of Boards and Committee Collaboration Training that took place on 5/12 at City Hall. a. Great overview of all the committees. b. Learned a great deal about other committees and met a lot of great people c. Not an ideal showing of MEC members. We need to make sure we stay relevant d. Discussed ways to keep communication between committees going forward e. Discussed how we can connect special needs programs and equestrian community i. Susan Day going to Disability Committee meeting to report on how we can collaborate f. Homework: i. What is the best way to collaborate with the other committees? ii. How do equestrian needs intertwine with other committee agendas? 2. Started discussion on the needs and desires of the MEC as they relate to equestrian trails. a. Homework: i. Footing ii. Grade and shape of trail iii. Width of trail iv. Height clearance v. Connectivity vi. Length vii. Cost of development-Tony checking with Jim Cregge viii. Cost of maintenance-Tony checking with Jim Cregge 3. Possible separate group to help fund equestrian trails. i. 501c3 -Liz will look into forming a separate trail committee and report back at July meeting. 4. Initial discussion on hosting ride at Birmingham Park with possible inclusion of an Arts festival -Julie will work on that and report back in July. 5. June 20th MEC meeting got moved to June 6th at 7pm a. Susan will act as secretary in Liz’s place UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Visit to Garland Mountain a. Tabled until next meeting b. Possibly go on own time ADJOURNMENT The meeting ended at 7:57 p.m.
