Tuesday, April 10, 2018 – 11:30 AM
Bullpen Conference Room
The following members were present for the April 10th meeting: Emily Griffith,
Megan Jamison, Sarah LaDart, Barbara Peck, Bill Purdie, Kevin Swan, Lauri Goodling
and Ivan Pitoni. Sarah LaDart took roll call; Bill Purdie called the meeting to order.
Chic Evolution in Art
Ivan Pitoni, owner of Chic Evolution in Art, introduced his new art gallery to the
Committee. Ivan has 14 years of experience in the art business. His gallery
specializes in showcasing emerging talent from around the world, including local
artists. Ivan extended an invitation to the Committee to the Grand Opening on April
31st at the Crabapple Market.
Milton Historical Markers
Historical markers have been installed in 28 locations throughout the city. The
markers commemorate sites, persons and events that have played a significant role
in forming Milton’s history.
Sarah reported that Carter Lucas is on board with the Committee’s recommendation
to place a round marker instead of a horseshoe in the recently installed Crabapple
sidewalks. The next step for the Committee is to develop a marker design that
would create an inviting sidewalk environment, capturing community and tourist
interest.
Dissolution of MCAC
Sarah briefly discussed the advantages of dissolution of MCAC. Committee members
unanimously agreed.
Committee Member Name Tags
Bill requested that each Committee member provide his/her name exactly as it is to
be displayed for others to view.
Milton’s Got Talent
Kevin gave an overview of the latest activities on the city’s first music competition.
The sign-up process showed 27 participants were interested. Ten confirmed. The
auditions will be held at SoundLab on April 11, 6:00 to 10:00 PM. A few volunteers
are needed to help with the auditions.
Thanks to Bob and Kevin for the outstanding job they did on developing and
implementing the first Milton Has Talent competition!
Logo
Sarah sent the proposed logo designs to all committee members and asked for
comments. The question of how the logo would look in black and white was raised.
Milton Arts Council Incorporation and Web Site
Final approval for the Milton Arts Council 501 (c) (3) has been approved but not
officially from the State of Georgia. The web site development is underway. Art
event photos are needed.
2018 Literary Festival

Committee’s March 20 meeting. These included but were not limited to the
following:
• Session Breakout Topics
• Speaker Time Table
• Children’s Event
• Timeline and Tool Design
• Next Steps
Committee members offered the following suggestions on the Children’s Event:
• Specific activities should be scheduled for the Library. However, the Library
will be closed on November 11. The Book Trail will be open.
• More children’s authors and books included in the Festival.
• Hold a Parent’s Chat with authors and illustrators. Perhaps be available to
sign books.
• Literary Threads – Quotes from famous writers.
• Home Depot hands on activity to build a Free Book Library Station.
School Partnerships
Lauri gave a progress report on the development of a partnership network with
Milton schools to help disseminate MAC program/project information to staff,
students and parents.
Respectfully Submitted,
Barbara Peck, Secretary
