Logo Discussion: • Need to use "PMS Book" for definitive green since printers vary. • Suggestions made on modifying the green color on the logo without the path to a solid color and on the logo with the path — move "Grows Green" so that all the lettering is horizontal. • Want a solid -color green (shamrock?) on the "no path" version (but with shadow okay). • We will not make a decision today but will involve the whole committee. • Jake will be sent to the committee for final design. Mission Statement Discussion: • Problems with possible misconstruction of the word "sustainable." Sustainable growth is open to misinterpretation, which may run counter to our intentions. Sustainability has an economic component that can be misused. Growth needs to be "responsibly managed growth," which is included within the term "sustainable," but which is often ignored. ■ How do we make sure we incorporate some of Milton's wording and differentiate our particular focus — want a symbiotic effect. • Key words — conservation of natural resources, conservation [preservation?] of resources, protection of natural landscape, preservation of historic rural character, responsibly manage growth by... (need to be specific on what you mean by "responsibly" ...to what purpose?). • Need to keep this as concise as possible without adding on redundant adjectives. Variations of primary sentence that was worked on: • Responsibly managing growth by preserving and protecting Milton's resources and natural landscape through community education and policy development. • Responsibly managing growth by conserving resources, protecting and preserving Milton's natural landscape through community education and by shaping policy development. Kathi Cook volunteered to assist the sub -committee investigating "green" building and development standards. Next Steps: ■ Committee to review the revised two logos and vote on preference ■ Revise mission statement as folks provide input ■ Sub -committees need to meet and make proMss ■ Need to determine what this committee will provide in terms of support for the zo -=event ana any activities earner in tne_weex Hone in on specific prioritized actions of this committee — return to the list of priorities in order to rank and specify Next meeting is Wednesday night March 19, 2008 at 6:00 in the City of Milton Executive Conference Room, Minutes APPROVED by the Governing Board this 12`h day of June 2009.
