Minutes April 14, 2010
Place: City of Milton, City Hall Executive Meeting Room
Attendees: Amy Peters, Jon McPhail, Jack Lindon, Francia Lindon, Kathy Johnson, Gina Schwendel, Jason
Wright, Michele McIntosh -Ross, and Mario Law.
Agenda: The Agenda was posted on the City's web site prior to the meeting.
I. Approval of Minutes and Announcements: No minutes were approved.
II. Updates: Michele McIntosh -Ross has attended ARC training on their Green Communities Initiative. She
has reviewed the criteria for minimum qualification and gave a detailed update where Milton meets the
requirements. She didn't see the city meeting enough to gain sufficient points to qualify at a minimum level
at this time. Jon gave her the name of the person at Roswell City government who has worked on getting
Roswell Silver status. He wants to make it a streamlined process in identifying what ordinances are needed.
MGG is pleased the City is taking the lead on this as everything that is done has to be documented and
approved by City Council. There was a brief discussion on exemptions Fulton county allowed which
countered the efforts of the City's initiative such as the county's refusal to revisit the design of the proposed
high school to make any adaptations to the building incorporating green building standards.
III. Earth Day Festival, April I7th Planning:
Both Gina and Jack have met with Chris Lagerbloom. Jack provided Chris with the logistics detail he
requested, specifically what MGG was going to be responsible for handling and what was going to be
required from the City. Some of the facilities that will be set up on Friday include the ports -potties, the
dumpster, parking signs, signs for the carriage route, tables and tents. Because of this, there was a question
about what overnight security would be in place. The location behind the public safety building made it ideal
to monitor after-hours traffic. Jack also discussed the setup location for vendors. Gina said they expected that
the total number was around 13 counting food vendors and that all had been notified that there wouldn't be
any water or electricity available.
Jason Wright and Cyndee Bonacci will be at Birmingham Park at 9:00 am at the Parks and Recreation Tent.
Cyndee will have large-scale reaps of the area and signs for self -guided walking trails. Jason had sent an e-
mail blast on April 131h to Milton HOAs about the event.
The meeting adjourned at 1:10 pm.
