group of MGG volunteers and family members took both the classroom and field training
necessary to participate in the monitoring program. The field training was done at the
pond at Birmingham Park. Sharon Smith from the Fulton County Dept. of Water Services
Division, conducted the training. MGG will try to schedule another A-A-S training this
summer. We are trying to find an EverGreen School that will Adopt-A-Stream.
• BSA Troo 3000 Re din Event: Jack reported that BSA's event was successful. They'd
like to have it twice a year and include latex paint recycling. EcoFlo Corp, Hazardous
Waste Management, could be the paint vendor. This is the same company used by the
City in February. Collected material was put on pallets and stretch wrapped to be taken to
recycle centers or processed by the company. The cost is 2 cents per pound. The BSA,
using it as a fund-raiser, could charge $2/ can for collection.
