• Adopt -A -Stream: No activity to report.
• Evergreen Schools: Cindy met with STEM curriculum teachers from Milton Elementary
schools to introduce the various environmental programs on Oct. 2. Meeting for MS and HS
will be November 6. Teachers will be able to enter data on a related web site and see a
number of projects schools can do.
• Adopt -A -Road: Cindy reported that The Bloor Family is a new AAR group on Birmingham
Rd. Remaining signs should be replaced in the next month.
• Boy Scout Troop 3000 Shredding and Recycling Event. Cindy reported the event went well
with the exception that EcoShredding tried to leave an hour early. Troop 3000 was pleased
with the event and the fund raising.
• Bulky Trash Event. Sept. 27. Was the best -attended event for Milton residents - 220! Thanks
to Young Meri s Service League.
• Advanced Disposal Recycling Plant Expansion: Jack reported that Advanced Disposal has
withdrawn their application for expansion at the South Forsyth plant. They will not be able
to submit another expansion plan for a year.
• Milton's Conservation Initiatives: Cindy reported that Tom Daniels' presentation about the
Milton GreenPrint to Council on Sept. 22 was well received with about 50 people in
attendance. Margaret Lamb suggested we try and summarize the GreenPrint for those that
couldn't attend. The City still needs an action plan going forward for preserving green space.
Laurel Florio is the consultant working with the city on this. She is meeting with residents
who have acreage to inform them of various conservation options available to them. Monday,
Oct. 21" is the workshop on Conservation Subdivisions being presented by Randal Arndt. He
has written several books on this topic and is considered to be one of the country's experts in
this field. MGG members are encouraged to attend if possible. It will be a long meeting.
• Crabapple Fest Booth: Oct. 4. 10-5. We had a successful booth, with many people coming
and getting information about our programs and making pinecone bird feeders. YMSL again
did a good job volunteering.

• Providence Park: Bruce reported that the City is negotiating with Fulton County for the park.
Fulton County voted to put the land into surplus for sale. They are hoping that with the new
County Commissioner Bob Ellis, Milton and North Fulton will be better represented on issues
like Providence Park.
IV. Old Business:
• MGG Bylaws: MGG voted on and approved the latest version unanimously. The plan is
to have council approve the bylaws in November and the new MGG officers be approved
by City Council in December.
• Rivers Alive: Jack provided maps of the city divided into 4 quadrants that each have
several clean up sites with the volunteers, Bruce, Mark, Jon and Jack continuing to
evaluate the sites. Michael Plets agreed to lead volunteers at one of the sites.
• Septic System Education Meeting. Meeting has been set for November 20, with UGA
Cleanscapes Program Director and Fulton County extension agent from 7:00-8:30 at City
Hall Council Chambers. This will be in partnership with Better Together. Newer septic
systems have filters that need to be replaced every 5 years.
V. New Business:
• Milton Trees Program: Joe Lamp'l is willing to help with this effort to the extent his
travel schedule permits. Joe and Cindy met with Mark Law and the program .will
involve mostly advertising with people sending their pictures to a city email ... and
choosing winners in April to be announced at an Arbor Day event at the end of April.
Household Paint and Chemical Collection: Cindy suggested we start lining up a date
and a location for this as many calls/ emails come in wondering when the next event will
be. Our last event was Feb. 2014. Bell Memorial will be closed, the Fire Station #43 does
not think the location will work (egress of fire trucks, small parking lot), so the
committee decided to look at a location such as Cambridge HS. Dr. Spurka had given
permission a couple of years ago, then the City thought it best to go with City owned
property.
• New MGG Webpage: Jennifer Griffiths and Francia Lindon have worked hard to really
update our webpage with Jason's help and it is looking so great!
Meeting Adjourned at 8:15 PM
