We look forward to having Martha as a part of our group. Events and Activities (Past) –  It Takes a Village – Milton Style – July 2 Meeting Amanda reported that the group had a very successful first meeting with some 100 individuals in attendance. John Trautwein, a parent who lost his son to suicide, was the keynote speaker. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, at the Alpharetta Government center.  All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) – July 11 Event Amanda reported that this group held a very successful event at the Bethwell Community Center. After a great meal of barbeque and the fixings, the group learned to play bocce ball. Events and Activities (Future) –  Finance for Teenagers – Thursday, July 18 at 6:00 pm at Bethwell Peyton reported that all was in order for the event to take place this Thursday. Several volunteered to provide snacks for the attendees.  Communiteen Event – Saturday, August 24 at Bethwell Document Nancilee reported that Ansley and Meredith would be meeting in early August in order to finalize plans for this event. Preliminary plans are to make magnetic hearts.  Update on New Milton Library – Scheduled Date is Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 pm at Bethwell – Councilman Matt Kunz It was reported that this “Living Room Conversation” is confirmed.  Representative Jan Jones to speak – Scheduled Date is Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 pm at City Hall It was reported that arrangements had been finalized through the office of Representative Jan Jones for this event.  Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann – TBD Discussions with Commissioner Hausmann’s office will take place with respect to the timing for this “Living Room Conversation” which is expected to be scheduled during the November/December timeframe. Possible Projects/Activities –  Milton Senior Center – Needs It was reported that the new Milton Senior Center was in need of various supplies and also for individuals to teach games.  North Fulton Community Charities – o Notebook Paper Drive It was reported that plans are in place for the notebook paper drive. A City news release will be going out later during the week publicizing the event. o August 10 Volunteer Event It was reported that NFCC was in need of volunteers to assist with their back-to-school event scheduled to take place on August 10. A sign-up sheet was passed around so that individuals could indicate their interest in volunteering for the event.  Milton Grows Green – Adopt-A-Road Program It was agreed that our Better Together group would participate in the program. A section of Thompson Road is available for adoption. Barbara Peck will follow-up with Cindy Eade with respect to this selection. Document Open Discussion Participation by Better Together in the annual “Rivers Alive” waterways clean-up project was discussed.
