A sign(s) recognizing our group will be placed on the road shortly. We are committed to complete three additional clean-ups within the next year. A suggested date for our next clean-up will be determined by Barbara and recommended to the group.  Milton Senior Center – Continue to Support It was reported that the Senior Center continues to need supplies for use by the seniors. Needed items for the center include fabric, thread, buttons and painting supplies. Several horseshoes that had been painted and decorated by the seniors were on display for viewing by our group. It was reported that we had collected and provided approximately 200 horseshoes to the center. Events and Activities (Future) –  Update on New Milton Library – September 26 at 7:00 pm 2 It was reported that an additional news release would be distributed by the City publicizing the library event. After the meeting, dessert and drinks will be available for all the attendees. o Book Donations o Dessert/Coffee Sign-Up  High School Football Game – Cambridge on September 27 It was reported that Wayne and Teri would be handing out materials at the game publicizing the Crabapple Fest.  Representative Jan Jones to speak – Scheduled Date is Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 pm at City Hall Wayne reported that he is working with the office of Representative Jones in order to prepare a press release publicizing this event. Milton’s Mayor and the members of the City Council have been invited to attend the event.  Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann – January Timeframe Wayne is working with the office of Commissioner Hausmann to determine a date for this Living Room Conversation. It will probably be held at the Bethwell Community Center. Possible Projects/Activities –  It Takes a Village – Teen Anxiety on October 1 It was reported that the third meeting of this group would be held at the Alpharetta Government Center from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and would feature Dr. Damond Logsden as guest speaker.  Crabapple Fest – Saturday, October 5 It was reported that volunteers are still needed on October 4 and 5 for the Crabapple Fest.  Milton Grows Green – Rivers Alive – Saturday, October 19 Barbara will coordinate this activity for the Better Together group. We will meet on October 19 and then will be given our clean-up assignments.  North Fulton Community Charities – Coat Drive Teri will be coordinating this activity for the Better Together group. A suggestion was made that we should coordinate with the various schools when we begin the coat drive.  Community of Christ Church – November 3 – Pet Blessing 3 It was reported through Tass Welch, Associate Minister at Community of Christ Church, that a Pet Blessing Day would be held at the church during the afternoon on November 3. In addition, funds would also be raised to support Daffy’s Soup Kitchen for Pets. Angela Thompson – Special Events and Projects Manager – Milton Angela discussed the programs and activities that she coordinates for the City of Milton. Among other activities, the Christmas Tree Lighting , the Mayor’s Race, summer movie events, Memorial Day Ceremony, Milton Round-up and Crabapple Fest are programs coordinated under her direction.
