Events and Activities (Past) –
Institute for Advanced Medical Research – Meeting on October 10
Wayne reported that he met with Dr. Angelo Sambunaris on October 10.
Dr. Sambunaris is the Medical Director for the Institute of Advanced
Medical Research located on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. The
research being pioneered by this Institute focuses on, among other
things, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Hopefully, Better
Together, working with Dr. Sambunaris, will be able to host an event
open to the public in early 2015 focusing on Alzheimer’s disease.
CJ’s Talk of the Town Event – October 18
Better Together’s fourth business connection event was held at CJ’s Talk
of the Town on Saturday, October 18 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Judging by the
number of customers who visited the shop, the event was very
successful. Activities during the afternoon included a special in-store
sale, three raffles and a special appearance by Miss Atlanta. Nothing
Bundt Cakes and Edible Arrangements also participated by providing
samples of their products to all attendees. A special thanks goes to

Barbara Peck, Freeda Bush, Sharon Lockwood and Angela Thompson
for their help at the event.
Events and Activities (Future) –
Adopt-A-Road Clean-Up – October 25 at 9 am
All were reminded about the road clean-up that is scheduled for
Saturday morning, October 25. Barbara Peck added that she will have
the necessary vests and other items needed for the clean-up.
An Evening with Fulton County Commissioner-Elect Bob Ellis –
November 6 at City Hall Chambers at 7 pm
It was reported that plans are well underway for the event with Bob
Ellis on November 6. A release relating to the event will be distributed
by the City during the next few days and it will also be publicized in the
November Roundup E-mail Newsletter.
Septic System Workshop – November 20 – 7:30 pm at City Hall
It was reported that Better Together will be partnering with the Milton
Grows Green Committee to sponsor a Septic System Workshop on
November 20 at City Hall. Better Together will be responsible for
making arrangements for dessert and refreshments after the
presentation.
North Fulton Community Charities – Family Sponsorship
(Christmas)
Teri Harrison reported that she had indicated to NFCC our interest in
sponsoring a family at Christmas that has no more than two children.
Once more specifics are known, we will solicit donations from our
Better Together members to provide a very nice Christmas for the
family.
Free Writer’s Workshop – Prior to Year-end
Wayne reported that tentative arrangements are in place to hold the
Free Writer’s Workshop on Sunday, November 16, at the Bethwell
Community Center. The event will be scheduled from 2:00 pm to 4:00
pm. Kimberly Brock, local Milton resident and Georgia Author of the
Year 2013, will be leading the session. After the workshop, dessert and
refreshments will be available to all attendees.
Better Together Christmas Gathering – December 8 at Bethwell
As reported previously, this year’s Christmas gathering for Better
Together will take place at the Bethwell Community Center on Monday,

December 8 at 6:00 pm. Nancilee and Wayne will be meeting to plan the
event.
Better Togther 2015 Meeting Schedule
A meeting schedule for Better Together meetings for 2015 was distributed.
Meetings will take place twice-monthly except for the months of June, July,
August and December. During these months, Better Together will meet
monthly.
Connecting Residents with Businesses –
J3 Academy & Fitness
It was reported that plans are to hold one of our business connection
events for this business during the first couple of months of 2015.

It was reported that plans are to hold another of our business connection
events for this business during the first couple of months of 2015.
Open Discussion
Barbeque on October 25 – Sharon Lockwood reminded the group that she
has tickets for sale to this event which will take place on Saturday, October
25, at the home of Roswell Mayor Jere Wood. This year, the proceeds from
the barbeque event will be used to support the work of Senior Services of
North Fulton.
Cara Novelli – Owner – J3 Academy & Fitness
Cara Novelli, one of the owners of J3 Academy & Fitness, commented on
the programs offered at this business. Among other offerings, Cara
mentioned that one of the primary focuses of the business is on self-defense
for women. In addition, other programs are available, including combat
conditioning and activities particularly geared toward kids. Cara added
that free sessions are available every Saturday at noon.
