Volunteers and their families are invited to enjoy lunch served by Cue BBQ.  City of Milton Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday April 4 – 10:00 AM This First Annual Easter Egg Hunt by the City of Milton is being held in partnership with the Reach One Church. It will begin at 10:00 AM on April 4 at Friendship Park. Approximately 4,000 eggs will be hidden for the children. Volunteers are needed for the event.  Earth Day – Friendship Park – Saturday April 18 11:00 AM The Annual Earth Day event will again be held at Friendship Park. Volunteers are needed for the event. In addition, there will be a clean- up activity on Saturday morning, April 11, beginning at 9:00 AM. Volunteers are also needed for the clean-up.  Adopt-a-Road Clean-up – Saturday May 9 – 9:00 AM 2 Barbara Peck will be organizing our clean-up on Thompson Road on May 9. Volunteers are needed for this activity which will begin at 9:00 AM.  Community Pet Day – Community of Christ Church – May 17 This event is scheduled to take place at Community of Christ Church beginning at 1:30 PM on Sunday, May 17. Volunteers may be needed to assist with this event.  Milton Literary Event – Tentative - Fall 2015 The plans are to hold the City of Milton’s First Literary Event in the fall of 2015. Preliminary plans call for a one-day event where a panel of local authors will be featured to discuss their books.  Milton Literary Group – Next Meeting – April 12 at Bethwell The second meeting of the Milton Literary Group is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, at the Bethwell Community Center. Local author Rona Simmons will be the guest speaker. Institute for Advanced Medical Research – Three Programs (Tentative) It was reported that plans are for Better Together to work with Dr. Angelo Sambunaris, Founder and Medical Director at The Institute for Advanced Medical Research, and other partners to offer the following three presentations to the community within the coming months.  Alzheimer’s Presentation  Drug Issues in the Community  PTSD - Veterans Special Needs Certified – Training for Better Together Members It was reported that the City of Milton has become the first city in the United States to be “Special Needs Certified” as a result of its employees completing the on-line training provided by the special needs organization founded by Lindsey Turner. Other than the City of Milton Fireman and Police Officers, all other City employees have completed the training. The training is now being offered to our Better Together members. Information will be sent by email to each Better Together member explaining how to access the training videos. Connecting Residents with Businesses – Current Status 3 Wayne reported that discussions have taken place to identify ways in with Better Together might work with the Milton Business Alliance in the future with respect to coordinating the business connection events. Welcoming New Residents – Monthly Mailings It was reported that monthly mailings to new resident are continuing. The most recent mailings were to 59 families who purchased homes in Milton. Open Discussion Wayne reported that consideration is being given to participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life North Fulton Program is scheduled for May 1. This event will be held at the Milton Center Stadium. Most likely, the City will try to have one team consisting of members from the City, Better Together and the Crabapple Community Association. Special Guest – Jack Lindon – Chair, Milton Grows Green Jack Lindon, current board Chair of the Milton Grows Green Committee, provided a very interesting discussion on the work of MGG in the community. Among other programs, MGG coordinates the following activities:  The Annual Earth Day Festival  Bulky Thrash Days for the Community  Bring One for the Chipper  Adopt-a-Road Program  Rivers Alive  Paint and Chemical Collections  Evergreen School Program Next Meeting – April 6 – Executive Conference Room – City Hall
