Nancilee Wolfe was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year from Better Together.  City of Milton Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday April 4 The City of Milton joined with Reach One Church to sponsor the City’s First Annual Easter Egg hunt. The event was enjoyed by some 1,500 of our citizens. Food trucks, Easter egg hunts, face-painting and other activities took place to entertain the kids and adults. The Easter Bunny was also made an appearance for pictures. Events and Activities (Future) –  Friendship Park Clean-up – Saturday April 11 – 9:00 AM Barbara Peck reported that volunteers are needed to help clean-up Friendship Park on April 11 in advance of the Earth Day festival scheduled for April 18.  Earth Day – Friendship Park – Saturday April 18 – 11:00 AM 2 Barbara also reported that volunteers are needed on April 18 for the Earth Day Festival.  Adopt-a-Road Clean-up – Saturday May 9 – 9:00 AM Better Together will be doing a clean-up on May 9 on Thompson Road. Barbara Peck will be coordinating our efforts with regard to this activity. Organizations that participate in the City’s adopt-a-road program are required to perform clean-ups on a quarterly basis.  Milton Literary Group – o Sunday April 12 at Bethwell o Guest Speaker – Rona Simmons Wayne reported that local author Rona Simmons will be speaking at the Milton Literary Group on Sunday April 12 at 4:00 pm at the Bethwell Community Center. Rona will be speaking on research and editing Institute for Advanced Medical Research – Three Programs (Tentative) Better Together, Senior Services North Fulton and the Rotary Club of Milton-Windward will be partnering together to again offer an Alzheimer’s Presentation to the Community. Tentative plans call for this event to be held at Milton City Hall Chambers on Tuesday, May 19, from 10 am to 12 noon.  Alzheimer’s Presentation – May  Drug Issues in the Community – Summer 2015  PTSD – Veterans – Fall 2015 Special Needs Certified – Training for Better Together Members Wayne reported that the members of Better Together have been provided the necessary information to be able to view the videos in order to become Special Needs Certified. Open Discussion Sharon Lockwood reported that she had met with Cindy Ringwall with respect to Better Together and the Rotary Club of Milton-Windward participating in the annual United Way shoebox program. Tentative plans call for the shoeboxes to be assembled on April 25. Sharon will be meeting with Cindy to confirm plans on this activity. Special Guest – Jason Wright – Director of Innovation and Engagement 3 In Jason’s absence due to sickness, Wayne gave a PowerPoint presentation and reviewed the City’s new Social Media Policy. The main message is to always be careful what you post on social media sites. It never goes away! Always use common sense and good judgement. Next Meeting – April 20 - Bethwell Community Center
