Events and Activities –
Milton Literary Group -
o May 31 at Milton Library (10-2pm) – Karen White Book Launch
o Beginning in June, all meetings to be at Milton Library
Reported that there would not be a regularly scheduled May Milton
Literary Group meeting. Instead, all members are urged to attend the
Karen White Book Launch on May 31 at the Milton Library. Karen was
our keynote speaker at the first Milton Literary Festival in November
2015. In addition, all were reminded that our literary group meetings,
effective with the June meeting, will take place at the Milton Library.
Milton Literary Festival –
o November 12, 2016
o Current Status
Reported that plans are moving along rapidly for the second annual
Milton Literary Festival. Wayne noted that Kimberly Brock and Rona
Simmons, local authors, are doing the majority of the “heavy-lifting”

relating to the planning for the event. For more information, additional

The Village Volunteers – Update
Diane Stewart provided an update on the Village Volunteers. This
special group of individuals meets each Monday at the Bethwell
Community Center where they participate in learning and other
activities.
Business Connection Events in 2016 –
Countryside Pet Estates – April 30
Wayne reported that Better Together’s first business connection event
was held at Countryside Pet Estates on April 30. It was a very
successful event with participation by seven vendors. Some 75 folks
attended, many of which who had not previously visited the facility.
Two additional events in 2016
Consideration is being given to holding two additional business
connection events in 2016.
Open Discussion
Special Guest – Connie Mashburn – History of North Fulton Area
Connie Mashburn led an excellent discussion on the history of the North
Fulton area. Highlights included:
Background on the Cherokee Indians who populated the area in the
early 1800’s and before.
Early Families
Land lots and the way in which land was acquired
Various neighborhoods now and how they were referred to
previously
