Milton Literary Group -
o June 12 Meeting
o Monthly Meetings –
Second Sunday of each month
Milton Library at 4:00 PM
Reported that the June 12 MLG meeting focused on planning for the
second annual Milton Literary Festival. It was also announced that
beginning with this meeting, the MLG meetings will be held in the
Milton Library each month.
Milton Literary Festival –
o November 11 and 12, 2016
o Current Status

Reported that several new sessions are being added to the festival this
year including an opportunity for children to participate in a “learning
book trail.”
July 11 Meeting – Broadwell Pavilion Cookout – Open to All
Reported that as has been our custom for the past two years, the Better
Together group will again be hosting a mid-summer cookout. All
members, their families and guests are invited.
Business Connection Events in 2016 –
Countryside Pet Estates – April 30
Two additional events in 2016
It was reported that Better Together has sponsored one business connection
event in 2016 at Countryside Pet Estates. Tentative plans are to host two
additional events prior to year-end.

Program –
Village Volunteers –
o Special donation in memory of Jim Granish
Jim Granish, one of the dedicated volunteers for the Village
Volunteers, passed away in March. A special donation was
provided to Village Volunteers in memory of Jim. Diane, Jim’s
wife, and Matthew, Jim’s son, attended the meeting and were
recognized and thanked for the donation as well as Jim’s
dedicated volunteer service to the Village Volunteer group.
o Update on Group – Diane Stewart
Diane Stewart, organizer and leader of the Village Volunteer
group, reported that things are going well. Attendance at the
weekly meetings normally averages around five or six. In
addition, several volunteers from Better Together also assist with
the program.
Cuba – A first-hand view from Bob Meyers
Bob Meyers, a Better Together member, recently visited Cuba with the
“Road Scholar” group. During his trip, he was able to take some 2,000
photos. While he did not show all 2,000 to the group, he did take the

meeting attendees on a review of Cuba by showing approximately 100
of the photos. Highlights included:
o Photos of the old American cars that continue to be operated.
o The Bay of Pigs museum.
o Unique buildings and restaurants.
o Ernest Hemmingway House.
o Buses and horse-drawn taxis.
Next Meeting – July 11 – Broadwell Pavilion
Reported that the next Better Together meeting will be a cookout at the
Broadwell Pavilion. All members, families and friends are invited.
