Update on Village Volunteers – Diane Stewart
Diane reported that the Village Volunteer Program continues to go well. In
October, the group celebrated its one-year anniversary by having a cookout
for all participants and volunteers. It was well attended with some 30 folks
joining in on the fun.
Events and Activities –
Providence Park Reopens – November 12
Reported that after an extensive clean-up effort, Providence Park, now
owned by the City of Milton, is now open to the community. Several
trails, primarily built by the Boy Scouts, are now available for
enjoyment.
Milton Literary Festival – Summary of Event
o 300 plus attendees
o Highlights – 35 authors; panels; workshops; book trail

This year’s Milton Literary Festival was a huge success by all accounts.
Attendance more than doubled as compared to the prior year’s first
event.
Stand Up for Kids –
o Friday, December 9 – 1 to 3pm
o Community of Christ Church
Better Together, the Milton Sweet Tea Society and Community of Christ
Church are combining efforts to collect items for homeless teens in our
area. All items are to be brought to the church on Friday, December 9.
Tass Welch, Better Together member and Community Minister,
coordinated this activity.
Milton Cultural Art Committee – To be established on November 21
It was reported that the Milton City Council would be establishing the
Milton Cultural Arts Committee. The committee will be comprised of
seven members. In the future, the Milton Literary Festival, as well as other
art-related activities, will be coordinated through this committee.

Reported on these three Business Connection Events.
Holiday Gathering – December 12 at The Bryd House
Reported that the Better Together Annual Holiday Party would again be
held at the Byrd House. Better Together members and their families and
friends are invited.
CAN-paign to Fight Hunger – Inika Jain
Reported that Inika Jain, a senior at Milton High School, lead a Better
Together effort to collect canned good for needy families in the North
Fulton County area.
Program – Megan Jamison – Children’s Charities

Mandy White and Megan Jamison reported on the fundraising efforts to
build a state of the art children’s playground in Milton. One of the major
fundraising efforts would be a tour of one of the new homes being built in
Milton.
