HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - BT - 01-16-2017 BETTER TOGETHER Action Agenda January 16, 2017 Updates from the Meeting are Posted in Red Meeting Attendees – Welcome to Members and Guests Wayne Boston Michelle Miralles Lisa Etheridge Carolyn Morrison Brian Gilbert Hal Morrison Dawn Gilbert Barbara Peck Michelle Hartlage Rossita Presley Sharon Lockwood Diane Stewart Gloria Mattei Leslie Watson Bob Meyers Sofie Watson Pat Miller Jan Williamson Better Together in 2016 and 2017 –  Review Goals for 2016 – o Increase Facebook “likes” to 500 Reported that Facebook likes were 415 at year-end 2016 o Increase average attendance to 15-17 Reported that average attendance was 15 for 2016 o Create First-Class Brochure for Better Together Brochure was produced in 2016 and is being distributed in the community  Goals for 2017 – o Increase Facebook “likes” to 600 o Host Milton’s first Home Business Expo o Formalize volunteer framework for citizen participation Reviewed the above goals for 2017 Projects and Activities – 2  2016 Holiday Party at Byrd House Reported that the Better Together Holiday Party at the Byrd House was a very enjoyable event attended by 32 of our members and guests. In addition to a great dinner, the group collected items for North Fulton Community Charities.  Creation of Milton Cultural Arts Committee Reported that this committee is currently being formed and will provide leadership and direction with respect to cultural arts in the City. When fully-formed, the committee will be comprised of seven Milton community members.  Creation of Milton Equestrian Committee Reported that this committee is also being formed and will provide leadership and direction with respect to equestrian activities. When fully formed, it too, will be comprised of seven Milton community members.  Special Equestrians of Georgia – Ways to Assist Reported that this group provides very valuable Hippotherapy services to special needs individuals in the Milton community area. Currently, they have a number of needs at their farm (for example, landscaping, equipment and fencing needs. Efforts are being made to determine how we might help this group.  Adopt-a-Road Cleanup – Saturday, January 28 at 9:00 AM Reported that several members of Better Together participated in the quarterly clean-up of our adopted road, Thompson Road from Country Ridge to Redd roads. Program – The Phoenix at Milton –  Michelle Hartlage, Sales and Outreach Director  Tour of Facility Michelle Hartlage, Sales and Outreach Director at the newly-completed senior living facility at The Phoenix at Milton, described all the amenities being offered at this 100-room facility. It includes studio, one bedroom and two bedroom living arrangements. In addition, a memory care section will also be available. Michelle explained that a very extensive activities calendar will be provided to the residents. After her remarks, she led the group on a tour of the three-story facility. 3 Next Meeting – February 13 –  Donna Barron, Author  The Man Who Carved Stone Mountain Reported that the next Better Together meeting will feature Donna Barron. The meeting location will probably be in the Executive Conference Room at Milton’s City Hall.
