She stated that attendance has been good and that she is receiving excellent help from volunteers. Upcoming City Events –  Community Easter Egg Hunt – Friendship Park – April 15 Plans are well underway for the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held on April 15. Crabapple Baptist Church will be providing support for this year’s activities.  Earth Day – Milton City Hall - April 22 It was reported that the annual Earth Day Festival will be moved from Friendship Park to Milton City Hall. Plans are for it to be a little different from past events in that the focus will be more on 2 sustainability and specific projects that volunteers will be able to support on the day of the event.  Grand Opening – Milton City Hall – April 29 Milton City Hall will have its official Grand Opening on Saturday, April 29. There will be tours during the afternoon for all citizens and a special dinner will be planned for the evening. Tickets for the evening event will be $25 per person.  Milton Jubilee – Broadwell Pavilion - May 6 The Third Annual Milton Jubilee will be held on Saturday, May 6, at the Broadwell Pavilion. As in past years, there will be vendors and entertainment for those who attend this annual family event. Projects and Activities –  Milton Cultural Arts Committee – Update Reported that the MCAC has been approved by the Milton City Council and will have seven members when fully formed. In the future, it will assume a leading role in all of the arts-related activities, including the Milton Literary Festival.  Milton Literary Festival – November 11 – Update Reported that plans are moving along nicely for the Third Annual Milton Literary Festival which will be held at the City of Milton’s new City Hall.  Milton Equestrian Committee – Update This committee, like the MCAC, will also have seven members when fully formed. It will bring a bit more organization to the various interests of those in the equestrian community in Milton.  Special Equestrians of Georgia – Update Reported that this organization is doing excellent work in the community by responding to the needs of those who would benefit from hippotherapy services. The group does have challenges and ways to help are being investigated.  Home/Business Expo – Projected Timing - May 2017 at City Hall Reported that tentative plans are to hold the first Milton Home/Business Expo at the new Milton City Hall in May 2017.  Volunteers for the City – Current Initiatives 3 Reported that City is collecting information on various organizations in Milton with a particular view toward identifying their volunteer needs. Once this information is compiled, it will be made available to those who might wish to volunteer. Guest Speaker –  Jordan Patterson, SGT, USA (Ret)  King’s Ridge Christian School, Middle School Dean of Students  Topic – Service through Defense and Education and Service as a Calling Sgt. Patterson gave a very inspiring talk on his experiences in the US Army, particularly discussing his time oversees in the Middle East. While in the Afghanistan, he was seriously wounded and spent some eight months in the hospital before his discharge. In addition, in his talk, he stressed the importance of volunteerism in the community. Joining him at the meeting were two King’s Ridge Christian School students, Kyle Brown and Katie Garcia.
