Village Volunteers – Update
Diane provided an update on the Village Volunteers. She commented
upon their latest outing which was attending the circus at the Verizon
Wireless Amphitheater. In that regard, 16 of the Village Volunteer were
able to enjoy free tickets that were provided to them by the City of Milton.
Otherwise, the VV program continues to go well. They meet on each
Monday at the Bethwell Community Center from 12:00 noon until
approximately 2:30 pm.
Projects and Activities –
• Mayor’s Run – Saturday, February 24 at Freedom Park – 7:30 AM
Reported that the annual Milton Mayor’s Run will be held on February
24 beginning at 7:30 pm. It will begin at Freedom Park.
• Rise Against Hunger –
o Cambridge High School
o Friday, March 2 – 3:30 to 5:30 pm
Reported that on March 2, approximately 100 volunteers would be
helping to assemble some 20,000 meals to be provided to people in need
around the world. Several Better Together members have already
signed up for the event and others are welcome to participate.
• Adopt-a-Road –
o Saturday, March 31 at 9:00 AM
o Thompson Road – Redd Road to Country Ridge Road
Reported that Better Together’s next quarterly adopt-a-road pickup
would be on Saturday, March 31, and would begin at 9:00 am.
Monthly Mailings to New Residents – Ongoing
Reported that Pat Miller continues to compile the monthly mailings that
are sent to those who have purchased homes in Milton. Normally,
approximately 50 of these packages are sent each month. The mailings
consist of a welcoming letter from the Mayor together with a relocation and
certain additional materials.
This Evening’s Program – Todd Williamson, Milton Library Branch
Manager
Todd Williamson, Milton Library Branch Manager, gave a very thorough
summary of all the library programs currently being offered to the public.
He also covered the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library’s website which offers
extensive information on the library programs.
