Dr.Drummond started meeting with introduction of attendees and attendees telling who they were, where they live, and committee members and Councilmembers stating where they currently walk, run and jog. Brief history and background of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. Minutes City of Milton Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Citizens' Advisory Committee February 13,2007 Overview of the bicycle and planning process: 1) Started in the mind of Representative Jan Jones in Legislative Session a year ago. 2) Decided good idea to appoint committee and get officials involved and have Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan coincide with new incorporation of the City of Milton so City could be known for it, State appropriated money for Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan which was targeted for North Fulton County, including Milton and Johns Creek, is approximately $200,000. Discussion of purpose of Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan: Network of trails; considering needs of community, especially children of school age; study will establish priority of trails (joggers,walkers, cyclist, etc.). Expected completion date of Plan: May 1,2007. Dr.Drummond stated data comes from large demographic data bases, which include many sources showing current and future projections and use maps bandout of maps provided to attendees] which show destinations and origins. Discussion on possibility of connecting new Bicycle & Pedestrian trails with existing and running fiom one neighborhood to another (ex: White Columns). Some suggestions from attendees where they believed would be most needed were near:Schools, parks, libraries, churches, grocery stores, community centers, club houses & pools in golf, tennis and swimming communities;athletic communities (ex: Star Soccer). Outline of Major Study of Plan was provided to attendees p.Drummond Handout]. Abbie Jones presented a larger version of a map,including all the City of Milton various mas. Dr.Drummond told attendees that would make master destination maps in PDF format and could email to interested parties. Due to a good amount of discussion amongst the gathering, he simply ended the meeting telling everyone for their homework, to start thinking of other possible destinations for next meeting. Minutes City of Miton Eicyde and Pedestrian Plan Citizens' Adviswy Committee February 13,2007 Dr.Drumrnond told attendees that to start out, meetings will be held on alternating Tuesdays for February, March and possibly April. Dr.Dmmmond thanking everyone for coming and stating homework for next meeting would be to lmk at the maps he provided and think about areas Committee believes might be good areas for the Bicycle and Pedestrian trails.
