Meeting Notes
Gravelpave Presentation
Jeff Domenick presented installation information and estimated costs:
• Product is lined with Geogrid so no base is required for the product
• Suggested using 89 stone that local Vulcan materials supplies
• Gravelpave is going to have a much lower runoff coefficient than crusher
run material
• Water quality requirements
• Estimate cost is $4.50 to $4.75 per square foot installed as estimated with
Piedmont Landscape
• Cost would be less using an 8’ wide trail rather than a 10’ wide trail
• Grade would be excavated 2” to 3” and product and gravel material would
be applied
• The cost also included 2’ of backfill and grass on each side of the trail
• Maximum cross slope of trail 5% and can go up to 8.33% if necessary
• The cost did not account for some of the variable that trail sites may
encompass
o Drainage
o Walls
o Cut and fill dirt
o Bridges
• Committee suggestion to look a little closer at the 5 year plan and the
grades and any installation problems that may be on these sections
• Jeff Domenick suggested Piedmont Landscape as a contractor to install
product
• Committee suggested searching for a local Milton community contractor
to provide installation
• Business licenses search for Landscape type businesses
Test segment discussion
• City suggested using Canine Assistants on Francis Road – after visiting
site on 8/22/08 this site would not work for the test segment
• Not on section of 5 year plan
• Total site is 800’
• Area of improvement is approx 400’
• Not centrally located
• Where would residents park to try it out?
• Would anyone even use this section?
