MEETING NOTES
Gravelpave Test Segment Discussion and Finalized Location
• Location to be along Freemanville Road beginning at the intersection of
Freemanville and Providence
• Verify length of Gravelpave with Jeff Domenick – we have heard 150, 250,
300 and 500 feet at 4’ wide and 8’ wide
• Verify color of Gravelpave material available – Gray or Black
• Committee suggested continuing the test track to the next intersection
with a crusher run and granite dust segment
¾ We will discuss further at the next meeting
• Goal is to have Gravelpave donated by NDS, City to provide funds for
material and approx 15’ of concrete sidewalk from sidewalk fund,
contractors to provide installation services
• City to verify sidewalk fund request for funds
• Discuss schedule at the next meeting
Contractor Discussion of Trail Building
• Gravel trails usually need to be hand worked at driveways
• Crusher run trails
¾ 3”-4” excavated
¾ Rock base compacted, steamroll with water
¾ Top with granite dust
¾ Drainage addressed with metal grate cross pipes, cross pipes, or
“speed bump” type to route flow
¾ Cost $20,000 per mile for materials only
• When looking to begin a phase of the trail, invite contractors to walk
segments
Funding
• DNR grants
• Safe Routes to School grants for sidewalks within a 2 mile radius of a K-8
school
• Corporate funding – Allan Tetley has a list of potential corporations
• City Grant Coordinator has been contacted and is beginning research
• Update to committee with lists of possible grants by 9/12
