MINUTES
1. Approval of past meeting minutes
September 30, 2008 and March 5, 2009 meeting minutes were approved and
signed
2. Committee Photo on trail
3. Funding Update
a. Grants
SRTS grant was awarded to Milton
Waiting to hear award/project specifics
GDOT will host a workshop for the awardees to go over all project and
funding details
Requested ARRA funds for trail under Transportation
Looking into requests under Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant
b. Trail funds in Budget
Funding for trail under Capital Projects Fund for $200,000
This was intended to be used for local match on grants
Present proposal of use of these funds since no local matches are required
on the SRTS grant
4. Trail Signage
Milton Grows Green ‘Adopt-A-Road’ signs
Change to ‘Share the Road’
Show symbols for uses
Use horse and Milton Trail text
Present these signs along with the reduced speed limit to Council on July 20th
5. Volunteers
Committee members to come up with volunteer organizations

6. Milton Trail activity group
Mary will be working with Allie Taylor, Milton’s communications and website
manager
a. Demonstrate that the people of Milton really do want trails
b. Publicize existing trail areas that are ready for use
c. Publicize that the existing gravel roads are integral to the trail plan and
conducive to running/biking/horse-riding in the community
d. Create additional community support for the trail by increasing use and
awareness of trail opportunities
e. Publicize regular group runs - Milton website and local newspapers
f. Trail Committee help with organizing, publicity, welcoming, etc.
7. Gravel Roads
a. Pedestrian Safety
Mirrors, signs, reflectors
b. Speed limits
Reduce all gravel roads that are part o the trail to 15 mph
Wood Rd will not be radar enforceable
c. Turn restrictions
Staff to look at warrants
Consider no thru traffic, local traffic only
8. Additional items
Trail rules – can trails be set up as part of parks?
Coordination with Parks committee
Other committee coordination – staff to provide opportunities for inter-
committee coordination
Committee to present to City Council on Monday, July 20th
