Approval of past meeting minutes • June 22, 2009 meeting minutes were approved and signed 2. Information received from transportation plan special interest group meetings (equestrian and cyclist stakeholders) . Committee to review minutes from these meetings 3. Alpharetta Trail/sidewalk signage • At Mansell Rd the sidewalk/trail is S ft wide so it is not considered a sidewalk but a multi- use trail • Bicycles are allowed on multi -use trails, 8 ft is wide enough for 2-way traffic • Minimum width of Milton trail (where achievable) is 8 ft 4. Update on Safe Routes to School a. 5RTS Grant • SRTS grant was awarded to Milton for amount requested (approx $500,000) • Waiting to determine project specifics as preliminary design begins more detailed construction costs are identified • Staff to provide prioritized list of projects that were part of application b. Other funding opportunities • Requested ARRA funds for trail under Transportation - did not receive any ARRA funding • Bikes Belong received some stimulus funding - look into projects through this group c. Trail funds in Budget • Funding for trail under Capital Projects Fund for $200,000 • This was intended to be used for local match on grants City of Milton �13000 Deerfield Parkway SLOG 100 Suite 107G Milton, Georgia 30004 " `i5 ■ Present proposal of use of these funds for full design and construction of Phase 1 by using trail builders since no local matches are required on the SRTS grant • Committee requested staff to begin RFP process prior to determination of when cash flow of funding will be available 5, Trail Signs on Wood Rd Positive comments received on signs and reduced speed limits • Signs create a new awareness of non -vehicular uses on the roads • Council determined reduced speed on only Wood Rd at this time as a test case • Committee requested at least sign post and trail signs on other gravel roads • Committee requested trail sign and share the road sign on North end of Phillips Circle at Freemanville Rd d. "Share the Road" awareness proposal ■ Alise Cua contacted public works about starting a "Share the Road" awareness campaign Mary Williams will coordinate with Ahse on starting this as a citizen campaign 7. Updates to Trail Development Standards • Committee reviewed material and segment updates and agreed on changes presented • Committee requested to hold off on any equestrian loop designations S. Additional items • Tree cutting damage to trail off of Wood Rd - Please report this at the following link: http: f / www,cityofmiltonga.us/forms/online/report.html • Historic Preservation Ordinance - will create a commission ■ Wood Rd as a historic place + Park and Rec ■ Birmingham Park can be used by the public ■ Sandy Sheley is on the Parks and Rec committee and provided updates from this committee R.
