Unfinished Business a. Subcommittee updates i. Equestrian Facilities – Julie Shannon ii. PR/Marketing – Brian Maloney 1. Monthly/themed social media posts to solicit horse+ pictures and build community. Greg will propose a plan by the end of April. This could start late April or early May. 2. Pitch Milton Herald+ on a regular equestrian-related column. Greg will draft and share a plan to pitch to the Milton Herald+ by the end of April. Ideally, we can start writing such a column – even if it’s to run on the Milton social media only – by May or June. 3. Add an Equestrian page to the City of Milton website. The City’s Communications team will draft a proposed content plan for this by the end of May. We should be able to have a working page by mid-June, if not earlier. We’ll need to review the equestrian survey results and may ask Equestrian Committee members for help providing content. 4. Regular profiles of people who benefit from equestrian. This is a Greg idea that he’d like to start this summer. Basically a picture and a few paragraphs on different types of people who enjoy the equestrian life here. It could be the disabled, a particularly young rider, a particularly old rider, someone who does it competitively, someone who does it for fun, someone living on an active farm, etc. I may request the Equestrian Committee’s help to connect with people this. 5. Finding new ways to expose more people to horses+. This might involve having horses at Crabapple Fest, pony rides at the Farmer’s Market that’s about to begin this summer, etc. Basically so that equestrian isn’t only for those with horse farms. 6. Create more horse statues+ in roundabouts and the like. Funding and “ownership” are keys to this. We can look into incorporating this into Adopt a Roundabout proposals, getting this into the Comprehensive Plan and more. 7. Involving middle/high school/next generation volunteers. iii. Farm Ownership Issues – Chrissy Reeves iv. Birmingham Park Clean-up Day 1. Coordinate with Milton Land Conservancy 2. Water and supplies for the day 3. Recruit Volunteers VI. New Business a. Flag Lot Update VII. Adjournment Next meeting date: Wednesday, May 19. 2021, 7:00 p.m.
