NEW BUSINESS
A. Tony began a discussion regarding the importance of continuing to
discuss the purpose of the committee and the need to revisit both the
short and long term goals of the committee. Brian contributed comments
emphasizing the ongoing focus to put the equestrian aspects of our
community continually in front of our community leaders. Susan
commented on the importance of continuing to promote and educate
the community on equestrian topics.
B. Brian led a discussion regarding identifying potential equestrian trails as
well as the need for equestrian crossings. The committee reviewed the
city map and labeled trails and potential crossings that could be linked for
the purpose of creating an equestrian trail system. There was
conversation regarding the need to identify trails that would have the
most impact in usage. Chrissy discussed cost verses usage as an
important factor.
C. Brain added additional new business regarding brainstorming of ideas to
partner with city leaders for incorporating equestrian elements around the
city. Ideas included equestrian themed street names and horseshoes
imbedded in sidewalks. Chrissy noted that the horseshoes could
potentially be used as a fundraiser and could have sponsor names
attached. Additionally, Brian added the idea of painted horse statues
placed throughout the city that could be sponsored as well.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. The committee reviewed the results of the farm/equestrian survey. The
committee was pleased with the feedback from the farm owners. The
next step from the committee will be to create a presentation to the city
council regarding the results of the survey. Courtney will be sending the
survey to some that did not receive from the initial distribution. In
addition, Courtney will do some additional formatting of the results for
ease of review.
B. Brian Maloney gave an update regarding the horse statue project. Brian
shared examples from a company that produces the statues. Funding for
the statues would be on a sponsor basis. Companies as well as
individuals could potentially fund the project. Courtney will follow up with
city regarding funding regulations as well as safety parameters for
composition of statue.
