ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski MEMBERS PRESENT Scott Stachowski Sean-Michael Yonson Esteban Colina Joey Costanzo Jami Tucker OTHERS PRESENT Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Manager Thomas Rhodes, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor Emily Groth, Parks and Recreation Specialist Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski. APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA Changes: Move the introduction of new PRAB member and the program provider check-ins up after New Business. A motion to approve the meeting agenda was made by Mr. Yonson and seconded by Mr. Costanzo. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion to approve the January 21, 2021 meeting minutes was made by Mr. Costanzo and seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. PRAB Meeting | February 18, 2021 Page 2 of 4 PUBLIC COMMENT None COMMITTEE REPORTS • Hopewell Baseball - Esteban Colina o Spring season starting; 800 kids in all leagues (travel, select, & rec) • Eagle Stix - Joey Costanzo o The season started with 240 girls and 260 boys registered • NAFL Football- No report • Halftime Sports Basketball- No report • Milton Mustangs Swim Team- No report • Milton Tennis- No report • Arts Programming- No report • Adult Programming- No report UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Rental Rates for Schools – Discussion on whether to give local schools a discount on field and facility rental rates 1. Feedback gathered from local department heads reflected that a discounted rate for schools was not a common practice o There was no action to move forward on this business NEW BUSINESS 1. Introduction of New PRAB Member o Jami Tucker CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Program Provider Check-Ins – An annual meeting with all the Parks and Recreation program providers to collaborate and give updates on the 2020 season and goals for the 2021 season o The Photo Creative – Starr Petronella and Amanda Gardner ▪ Will launch beginner’s photography classes in Spring ▪ Goal is to fill a creative gap in recreational programming ▪ Develop workshops both in classrooms and on location o Milton Mustangs Swim Team – Beth Wilson ▪ Developing new programs like the Mini Mustangs ▪ 2020 season closed due to COVID-19; ASA rules limited capacity ▪ Potential 2021 in-person season o Bach to Rock – Haley Skipper ▪ 160 local students in music classes ▪ Hosted virtual lessons until July 2020, then went to 60% in person lessons ▪ Plan to offer early education music classes with the City PRAB Meeting | February 18, 2021 Page 3 of 4 o Halftime Sports – Kim Coleman ▪ 2020 Rec League Basketball was a successful season 1. practiced stringent COVID-19 protocols with their COVID Leadership Team ▪ Season numbers are up with a positive response from parents o Wellesong Tai Chi – Margaret Miller ▪ Focused on health and community wellness programs for adults ▪ Went back to smaller & subsequent in-person classes in August 2020 o Rush Adult Soccer – Neil McNabb ▪ Hosted its first program with the City in September 2020 with 180 participants, the winter season held 100 participants ▪ Spring season begins in March; hoping to gain more Milton residents ▪ Interested in developing school and community partnerships o NAFL – Nitcha Lewis ▪ Hosted 326 total participants including 110 City participants last season, with 16 Flag Football teams, 7 Tackle Football teams, and 2 Cheer squads ▪ Looking to develop camps for moms and kids in the City o RNS Dance – Peri Sanders ▪ New to Milton programming with 20 years of experience ▪ Participant growth with the City partnership ▪ Dance session and recital offerings o Milton Tennis Center – Terre O’Brien ▪ Completing the USTA season ▪ ALTA season begins in March at full capacity except for Men’s ▪ Suspended Tiny Tots and summer camps due to COVID-19 o Camp Joyful Soles – City of Milton ▪ Preparing for a safe 2021 summer ▪ 2020 camp cancelled due to staffing issues 2. Former Milton Country Club Update o The final architectural markups are being completed & and construction could potentially begin at the end of March 3. Lightning Detection at Bell Memorial Park & Cox Road Athletic Complex o The detection systems have been installed and connected; this new technology will keep programs safe o Program providers and staff are notified via email; false positive notifications should be reduced 4. Wall of Champions o New plaques have been received for MTC & NAFL Flag o The wall will be recycling plaques for the first time 5. New Parks & Recreation Specialist o Emily Groth PRAB Meeting | February 18, 2021 Page 4 of 4 OTHER BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Costanzo. The motion was seconded by Mr. Yonson. The vote passed unanimously. The meeting was ended by Mr. Stachowski at 7:59 PM.
