ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mr. Alberici. MEMBERS PRESENT Jason Alberici Joey Costanzo Jami Tucker Phil Cranmer OTHERS PRESENT Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Manager Thomas Rhodes, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor Emily Groth, Parks and Recreation Specialist Quorum was announced by Mr. Alberici. APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA A motion to approve the meeting agenda was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded by Ms. Tucker. The vote passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES A motion to approve the February 18, 2021 meeting minutes was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded by Ms. Tucker. The vote passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT There were 3 comments on Zoom chat that requested gymnastics be added to the MOU with the City of Alpharetta. PRAB Meeting | April 15, 2021 Page 2 of 4 COMMITTEE REPORTS • Hopewell Baseball - No report • Eagle Stix - Joey Costanzo o Playoffs begin in May • NAFL Football - Tom McKlveen o Registration opened in March • Halftime Sports Basketball - No report • Milton Mustangs Swim Team - Tom McKlveen o The pool has been uncovered and will be opening on Memorial Day weekend • Milton Tennis - No report • Arts Programming - Thomas Rhodes o Tai Chi is changing instructors o Dance camps in June are open for registration o Bach to Rock and Challenge Island will host summer programs • Adult Programming - No report UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Possible MOU with City of Alpharetta o An MOU with the City of Alpharetta would waive non-resident fees for football, softball, and special needs summer camps. o Milton would allocate two fields to football in the fall. ▪ A recommendation was made to propose an MOU with the City of Alpharetta to include dual-citizen parks and programming. 2. Junior Park Ranger Program o A junior park ranger program would provide an interactive experience to get youth interested in the outdoors. This program has the potential to become a new City offering or a self-guided park tour. ▪ A motion was made to move forward with the self-guided aspect of the City of Milton Junior Park Rangers. NEW BUSINESS 1. Potential Arts Programming - Kid Create Studios o Registration based art classes for children aged 18 months through 12 years; classes would also incorporate parents. Programming would be based out of the Bethwell Community Center. ▪ PRAB recommended staff continue conversation and bring the potential program provider to a subsequent meeting. 2. Potential Fitness Programming - Grindstone Fitness o This program has 20+ years of experience and multiple athletic trainers. Offerings would include private lessons, bootcamp, HIIT, and aerobics. ▪ PRAB recommended staff continue conversation and bring the potential program provider to a subsequent meeting. 3. Potential Adult Athletic Programming - TUFF Flag Football PRAB Meeting | April 15, 2021 Page 3 of 4 o TUFF is a competitive flag football league based out of California. This program would utilize the artificial turf fields at Bell Memorial Park. ▪ PRAB recommended staff continue conversation and bring the potential program provider to a subsequent meeting. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 1. Providence Park Projects o Construction bids will be finalized soon. The restroom will be completed by September 2021, and the trails and pier will be completed by December 2021. 2. Former Milton Country Club Update o The design for the clubhouse renovation is complete. 3. Camp Joyful Soles Update o The position of Camp Manager is open for applications, along with Counselor positions. 4. Milton Pool Update o The pool has been uncovered and is getting cleaned. The smaller, zero entry pool is still covered. o Staff will be ready to open the pool OTHER BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Costanzo. The motion was seconded by Mr. Cranmer. The vote passed unanimously. The meeting was ended by Mr. Alberici at 7:52 PM.
