MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION
ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, May 20, 2021
Council Chambers, Milton City Hall
CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by Mr. Stachowski at 6:33 PM.
ROLL CALL
Roll call was taken by Mr. Stachowski.

Quorum was announced by Mr. Stachowski.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA
A motion to approve the meeting agenda was made by Mr. Cranmer and seconded
by Mr. Colina. The vote passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES
A motion to approve the April 15, 2021, meeting minutes was made by Mr. Cranmer
and seconded by Mr. Colina. The vote passed unanimously.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
• Hopewell Baseball - Esteban Colina

o The Spring season ended mid-May. A new summer program has started.
This program has about 200 participants and 20 teams.
• Eagle Stix - Thomas Rhodes
o The regular season has ended. All Star and select teams are currently
playing at Bell Memorial Park.
• NAFL Football - Thomas Rhodes
o Registration is open and is going well. This season’s evaluations begin on
July 10th, and the season starts at the end of July.
• Halftime Sports Basketball - Tom McKlveen
o This year’s Spring season was small. Halftime is currently hosting summer
camp programs out of Mill Springs Academy.
• Milton Mustangs Swim Team - Thomas Rhodes
o The Mustangs will begin their season in June with about 200+ registered
participants. Mock meets will be held at the end of May.
• Milton Tennis - Thomas Rhodes
o Women’s UTLA team won City Championship. The Spring season ended
this month, year-round programming continues.
• Arts Programming - Thomas Rhodes
o Dance to host camps in June, and full programming in July
o Music camps to be held at both City and Provider facilities in June
o Photography to host camps in June and July
o STEM camps will begin mid to late June
• Adult Programming - Thomas Rhodes
o Rush Union’s Spring season has ended. They will have two weeks off, then
begin their summer season on June 7th.
o Tai Chi has finished their progressive and subsequent classes. They will
begin again with introductory courses.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Kidcreate Studio - Rosio & Federico Vale-Giraldo
o Franchise owners, Rosio and Fredrico, spoke on their arts programming
business, Kidcreate Studio. Kidcreate would provide registration-based
classes, camps, and community events to the City of Milton. These
programs would focus on children aged 4 - 12, with classes incorporating
the whole family. They provide various art classes, such as painting, arts &
crafts, clay, etc. The City would provide the facilities, and Kidcreate would
oversee staff and programs.
2. Grindstone Fitness - Jason Wong & Bernard Pearson
o Certified Personal Trainers, Jason and Bernard, presented their fitness
business, Grindstone Fitness. Grindstone would provide various fitness
programs that are tailored to the participants and their respective fitness
level. Grindstone typically hosts group fitness classes of about 60

participants. Grindstone would provide workout equipment, while using
the City’s fields and facilities.
3. CodeWiz was not able to attend the meeting.
A motion was made to continue conversation with both Kidcreate Studio and
Grindstone Fitness. These conversations will explore pricing and programming that will
best suit the City and our residents.
The motion was made by Ms. Tucker, and seconded by Mr. Cranmer. The vote passed
unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
None
CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
1. Providence Park Projects - Tom McKlveen
o Bids for the trail, restroom and pier project have been received. TriScapes
Inc. will be moving forward with the construction of the trail and fishing
pier. The restroom originally included in the bid came in over budget. The
City is now looking at other options including a prefab facility. The
construction should begin in June.
2. Former Milton Country Club - Tom McKlveen
o The bid for this project will be advertised in early June. The Former Milton
Country Club interior space will be undergoing a total renovation. The
space will be converted into potential rentable and programming space.
3. Camp Joyful Soles - Thomas Rhodes
o Staff training to be held the beginning of June, with Camp beginning
afterwards. Camp is fully staffed and will host a minimum of 22
participants each week. The outside program providers and field trips
have been confirmed.
4. Milton Pool - Tom McKlveen
o The pool will open on Memorial Day weekend, with lessened but
continued Covid precautions. The Milton Mustangs will utilize the pool for
in-person home swim meets.
5. Proposed Alpharetta MOU - Tom McKlveen
o The MOU will be presented to City Council on Monday, May 24th. The MOU
discusses resident rates for participants in football, softball, and special
needs programs.
6. Cox Road Facility Enhancements - Tom McKlveen
o The RFP is close to completion. It will contain three separate bids for the
two large grass fields, the small turf field, and the northernmost building.

A motion was made to adjourn by Mr. Cranmer. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Colina. The vote passed unanimously. The meeting was ended by Mr. Stachowski at
7:25 PM.
