A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE GEORGIA ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION DIVISION FOR THE RECYCLING, WASTE REDUCTION, AND DIVERSION
GRANT AS PART OF THE SOLID WASTE TRUST FUND GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Trust Fund ("SWTF") Grant Program furthers the goals of
the SWTF by providing financial support for projects that meet the requirements described
in O.C.G.A. § 12-8-27.1 and O.C.G.A. § 12-8-37.1 of the Georgia Comprehensive Solid
Waste Management Act, and Rule 391-3-21-.17 of the Administrative Rules and
Regulations of the State of Georgia (Department of Natural Resources); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Recycling, Waste Reduction, and Diversion Grant is
to develop projects that best support community needs and reduce solid waste in
Georgia, recover valuable materials, support manufacturing, and encourage
innovation; and
WHEREAS, on August 1, 2022, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division
opened applications for the 2022 - 2023 grant cycle with $2,000,000 in available funding
for state fiscal year 2023; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is appropriate and in the best interest of the
City of Milton to support the submission of said grant application to the Georgia
Environmental Protection Division as part of the Solid Waste Trust Fund.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Mayor and City Council of the City
as follows:
1. The Mayor and City Council hereby approve of and support the grant
application, and, if awarded, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any and all
award package materials as required under the Program.
2. The Mayor and City Council further hereby acknowledge and agree to
provide a City contribution indicating commitment to the project up to 20% of project
costs.
