Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. Hi Tammy, Would you be kind enough to read the comments below during agenda item 22-271, adoption of the 2023 budget? Thank you very much! Good evening, Mayor and Council members. My name is Mary Cronk and I live at 600 Hickory Mill Lane. I could not be here this evening, and I appreciate being able to have my comments on agenda item 22-271, adoption of the 2023 budget, be considered via email. I respectfully request Council votes to put a hold with a few exceptions, on all new positions along with the vehicles and other equipment necessary for these new positions, at least until the amount of LOST revenue is determined. While a small number of new positions replace currently contracted services and likely make good financial sense, there are at least 8 new full-time and 3 to 4 new part-time positions. Putting a hold on these new positions and the expenses associated with them would shave approximately $1,200,000 from the budget, which would provide a small cushion should the LOST revenue be less than expected. Thank you for your careful consideration of this request and for your dedication to doing what is in the best interests of the residents of Milton. Mary Cronk 404 353-4144 /1 ( Rgenda_ :E4,-_m 2-2-2-71 CLEAN VERSION TO READ Mary Cronk 600 Hickory Mill Lane. r7a- cit rt dales As I understand, all recommended changes to Chapter 4 are being presented to Council in early October, just a couple weeks from now. If that is the case, I respectfully request that Council defers the vote scheduled tonight on this agenda item, a one -sentence amendment to Sec 4-125 allowing Sunday sales from 1lam to 10pm for manufacturer licensees, and considers it along with the other changes to Chapter 4 in October. There will likely be other changes to Sec 4-125, such as removal of growler/crowler shops and limited tap licenses, which would lead to additional changes to this very same ordinance in a couple weeks. Why make changes twice to the same ordinance when they could be considered and made all at the same time? Under the current Chapter 4, there are no food requirements for manufacturer licensees - allowing them to operate as 100% alcohol businesses. As stated in Chapter 4, bars at a 75/25 alcohol to food ratio are not allowed in Milton. I am asking Council to consider the existing manufacturer licensee business model in more detail since it could lead to a greater than 75% alcohol business and allow these businesses for all intents and purposes to function like bars. This amendment should be considered within the context of all of the changes to Chapter 4. What is the advantage to the City and the residents of Milton to make this one -sentence amendment to Chapter 4 now when all changes will be considered shortly? Conversely, how would it hurt the City to wait and consider all changes at one time? The only existing business this amendment directly impacts knew when they opened their business in Milton that they would be operating without Sunday sales, surely they can wait another few weeks if Council defers decision tonight. Dear Mayor and City Council, As long-term residents of Milton and the Crabapple area, and active members of the community, we wholly support Six Bridges Brewing's application for a permanent license allowing them to manufacture and sell beer and spirits in the Milton location, as well as their petition to be allowed to remain open to sell beer and spirits on Sundays. The Six Bridges family have been conscientiously engaging neighbors and are already part of the community. They have readily come forward and contributed to local events and charities and are eager to get more involved with organizations like Southern Magnolia Charities and the Milton Frist Responders Foundation. Crabapple is a hub not just for Milton and Alpharetta, but is becoming a respected North Fulton destination. As more retailers and restaurants open in our community we must ensure we open our doors, and our business practices so these small businesses have the greatest chance for success. Crabapple specifically attracts local businesses, not chain retailers. It behooves us as a community to ensure they have the support and freedom to do what is, within reason, best for their business. Dear Ms. Lowit, I am writing today in support of Six Bridges application for a permit allowing Sunday Sales. I have been encouraged by the growth of our community and believe that the City of Milton has an opportunity to support those small businesses who are making an investment in that growth. While I believe it may be true that at one time social norms and ordinances related to the sale of alcohol on Sundays may have been different in our state, and perhaps in various communities, I believe that most people who call Milton home expect that businesses open on Sunday would be permitted to sell alcohol. Provided Six Bridges remains committed to following all state regulations related to the sale of alcohol, I see no reason for the City of Milton to have ordinances which would prohibit those sales on Sundays. Thank you for your consideration of this email, and I look forward to the continued growth of the city. Dear Tammy, As a Milton resident, I whole-heartedly SUPPORT Six Bridges' request to sell their products on Sundays for the following reasons: 1) Sunday sales would generate more taxable income for the City of Milton. 2) Sunday sales would stimulate additional foot traffic & sales for the other tenants at Crabapple Market (of which I am one). 3) The owners (Clay and Charles Gridley) operate a similar successful operation in Johns Creek and by supporting their business in Milton will contribute to the success of Crabapple Market during this critical lease -up phase. 4) A prohibition of Sunday sales to this single operator would not only be highly discriminatory but certainly unfavorable to Milton's image as pro -business and a supporter of the community. While I can not attend the City Council meeting tonight, I want to go on record in support of Sunday sales for Six Bridges.
