Tammy, I had planned to give public comment this evening regarding the topic of the Mega Park on Hopewell Road. However, my son has been diagnosed with Covid today and I am also symptomatic. Therefore I am unable to come in person to give comment. Would you please read my comment into the record during general public comment this evening? Please advise . Lisa Cauley Below is my public comment: City Council and Mayor, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed mega park at the location on Hopewell Road. I believe that this choice is ill-advised and will have negative consequences for the adjacent property owners and the local horse farm . Furthermore, it will undoubtedly contribute to an already significant traffic congestion on that road . One of my primary concerns is the park's proximity in a highly residential area. Placing such a large- scale facility in the middle of this area will disrupt the tranquility and way of life for the residents. Instead, I suggest considering a more suitable commercial area for a park of this magnitude, where its impact on the citizen's quality of life would be minimized. In the interest of preserving our rural nature I propose an alternative approach . Rather than creating one massive park let's focus on developing smaller quaint parks throughout the community. This way we can maintain the charm and character that sets us apart from other cities. Additionally , it is crucial to include neglected areas like District 3 which accounts for 37% of our entire population . It is disheartening to see these areas being overlooked or ignored in the planning and development of public spaces . I urge the City Council to reconsider the location and size of the park and explore alternative options that better serve the needs and values of our community .
