R24 -04 -698 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MILTON SUPPORTING AN APPLI C ATION TO THE ATLANTA REGIONA L COMMISSION FOR FUNDING ALL PHASE S OF IN TERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT SR 3 72 /BIRMINGHAM HI G HW A Y AT NEW BULLPEN ROAD WHEREAS , O.C.G.A. § 36-35-3 provides that the governing authority of a municipality may adopt clearly reasonable ordinances, resolutions , and regula t ions ; and WH EREA S, Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is conducting a solicitation for Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) project funding proposals ; and WH EREA S, Federal funding from the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG), which includes the set aside for Transportation A lternatives , ARC's Livab le Centers Initiative (LCI) program, and t he Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program will be awarded t o implement projects which support the goals and objectives of the Atlanta Region 's Plan ; and WHEREA S, Sponsors may apply for federal funding to add new proj ects to the TIP, supplement funding for e xisting TIP projects, and submit proposals for studies and related initiatives which do not result in the construction of physical infras truc t ure; and WHER EAS, C ity of Milton adopted it s most recent update t o its Comprehens ive Transportation Plan on December 4, 2023; and WHEREA S, t he City Council believes it is appropriate and in t he best interest of the City of Milton to authorize submissio n of the said application for Intersection Improvements at SR 372/Birmingham Highway at New Bullpen Road to the ARC . TH EREFORE , IT IS HEREB Y RESOL VE D, by the Mayor and City Council of the City as follows: (SEAL) 1. The Mayor and Ci ty Council of the City of Milton does hereby approve the City 's submission of an application for funding of the proj ect SR 3 72/Bir mi ngha m Highway at New Bull p en Ro ad and t he City of Milton wi ll provide the required twenty percent (20%) match for this project should the grant funds be awarded . 2. The Mayor, and/or other City officials as appropriate, are authorized and directed to e xecute the application and deliver it to the Atlanta Regional Commission.
