The FAQ posted on the City 's website states that the City was not involved in reviewing and refusing 7 separate settlement offers. It also states that the City was not i nvolved in the decision to appeal the $32 .5 million judgment, w hich was de ni ed on September 16t h. It further state s that those de ci sions were made by the City 's i nsuran ce company, GIRMA. However, the FAQ subsequently states that the City, not attorneys r epresenting GIRMA , filed the most curre nt motion to the Court of Appeals ask i ng for reconsideration of the i r den ial. It also states that the City, no t attorneys represent i ng GIRMA , would ask the Supreme Court to review the case should t he reconsideration be denied . 1 These are confusing and seemingly conflicting statements . On the one hand, GIRMA is making decisions and the City is not involved at all, but on the other hand , the way the FAQ is worded , it sounds like the City is now making these decisions and filing motions. Please clarify the information in the FAQ as a first step in helping taxpayers understand the situation. If the City is still not involved, please state that GIRMA filed the latest motion and GIRMA would be asking the Supreme Court to review the case . No one expects or wants the City to divulge privileged information that could impact the current appeal -but the impact from further denials of appeals wil l affect all Milton taxpayers, not just those who are already aware of the situation. Our City has an excellent communications department -can they use their expertise to craft communications that are informative without containing sensitive information -so tha t this vital information can be shared with all Milton taxpayers?
