NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a) John Rebar kicked off meeting by noting the January 18th City Council work session
where the Parks Master Plan consultants, Moreland Altobelli, would be presenting
their work on the plans to date for input and guidance form City Council. It was also
noted that there will be a chance for public comment at this work session and that
the agenda would likely be posted within the next week. The Moreland Altobelli
consultants, David Gjertson and Chris Kingsbury, then began to give PRAB their
update/status of their work on the Parks Master Plan. Mr. Gjertson discussed their
peer review work which entailed a study of surrounding comparable cities to Milton.
These include Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Marietta. These cities had a population
density of 3-4 people per acre versus Milton which is 1 person per acre. Marietta had
the youngest average age at 33 followed by Milton at 36. The consultant is using
three major sources of information in preparation for the City Council meeting on
January 18th: 1) Input from public and past reports/studies conducted for city; 2)
Park at Crabapple crossing: approximately 30 contractors attended the pre-bid
meeting for this project.
