HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - PRAB - 12-15-2011MEETING MINUTES CITY OF MILTON PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Thursday, December 15th, 201111:3o a.m. Executive Conference Room CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Chairman Mark Reed at 11:45 a.m. ROLL CALL Roll call was taken by Mark Reed. MEMBERS PRESENT Mark Reed Sue Rekuc Wally Brittain Ron Hill Scott Stachowski OTHERS PRESENT John Rebar, Parks and Recreation Director Tom Gilliam, Recreation Programs Coordinator Angela Thompson, Special Events Coordinator Quorum was announced by Mark Reed. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES Deferred PUBLIC COMMENT None NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS a) John Rebar notified Board of advertised Request for Partners for Recreation Programming Services. Asked board to spread the word. b) John Rebar updated board on progress of park plan. Public meetings have been well attended. Mark Reed expressed that the active recreation supporters have not been coming to the meetings and it is important to utilize past studies when completing the plan. c) Mark Reed expressed that it will be important for the board to convey their priorities to city council. This may be done via a resolution at an upcoming city council meeting. d) John Rebar addressed the board with the issue of feeder teams. Feeder teams require a lot of space and with Milton already deficient in recreation programs sharing space with feeder teams will be difficult. COMMITTEE REPORTS a) Finance — Mark and Scott to meet with finance director to discuss future funding for park projects. b) Partnerships — No update. c) Communications —No update. CITY STAFF REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS a) John Rebar introduced Angela Thompson. Angela is the city's new part-time special events coordinator. She comes from the City of Gainesville. We are very fortunate to have her onboard. b) John rebar reminded the board of the upcoming Christmas in Crabapple to be held on December 17th. OTHER BUSINESS None NEXT REGULAR MEETING DATE Thursday, January 5th, 11:3o a.m. LOCATION OF MEETING ➢ The location of the meetings will be the Executive Conference Room at City Hall. ADJOURNMENT Motion and Vote: A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Scott Stachowski and seconded by Sue Rekuc. The vote was unanimous and motion carried.
