Old Business:
• MDAC continued the discussion of Web Design and Links.
• We had previously discussed many of the links that we felt important to have listed.
• Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, Obtaining Disabled Parking Plate/Placard,
Canine Assistants, Disability from "A" to "Z" Links (Georgia Based), Report Abuse of Disabled
Adults/Elder Persons, Hearing Loss-Financial Assistance are the links we agreed on in
September.
• We discussed many others that would be appropriate or beneficial to have listed. Those
included Parent to Parent, Vocational Training-Vocational Rehab, Kennesaw State
University's program for people with disabilities, FODAC and Fragile Kids.
• MDAC also decided to delete the Accredited Colleges link as it appears to be non functional.
• There was also discussion about potentially adding some for profit businesses to the list, but
no decisions were made.
• Van Black motioned for the changes to our Web Links and Dudley Arnold seconded.
New Business:
• MDAC discussed the conflict regarding our November meeting that was originally planned
for Nov. 13th . After brief discussion on rescheduling, Ken motioned that we change the date
to November 20 th and Van seconded that motion.
• Sudie created the calendar for 2014 and MDAC members reviewed next years dates. The
2014 calendar looks wonderful and there does not appear to be any changes needed.
• The committee discussed the upcoming Community Pet Day which took place on November
3, 2013 at Community of Christ Church in Milton.
• Members from the committee Better Together met on October 20, 2013 to prepare goodie
bags for the November 3 rd event and extended an invitation to MDAC members to assist in
preparing those bags.
• Daffy's Soup Kitchen was amongst the vendors present at the November 3, 2013 event and
that is a wonderful organization. Daffy's provides assistance to those struggling to pay for
dog food/treats, veterinary care and even toys or other supplies in certain cases.
• The Senior Center also had a table at Community Pet Day where decorated horse shoes were
sold as a fundraiser. These horse shoes can be decorated in a variety of different ways.
• The Senior Center is looking for various supplies to be donated. Things like gift cards for
Bingo winners are much appreciated as well as Kleenexes and similar practical household
items.
• Ken Woods gave Paul a brief rundown of some of the things MDAC has been involved with
over the past few years.
• Some of the things we touched on were the Hopewell House, Jim Cregge and Bell Memorial
Park and a few other community related events.
• Paul then introduced himself and gave us a bit of background on himself.
• He is a Colorado native and University of Colorado graduate who moved to Milton in 2010.
He volunteers with Canine Assistants and enjoys being active in the community.
• Paul first attended an MDAC meeting a few years ago and would like to become more
involved.
Van Black moved to adjourn the meeting. Ken Woods seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous
to adjourn. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2013 @ 7 :00 PM.
