New Business:
• Paul opened up and discussed the value of our committee working with a variety of students
and schools. Students are a great resource for MDAC and could add a new and different
perspective on a number of issues.
• Having MDAC do presentations to students about disabilities could be a wonderful thing for
our committee and the community.
• MDAC could also have students participate in activities various festivals and activities where
we have booths.
• Ken mentioned Law Day . That is a day designated for lawyers to attend schools and discuss
the day in the life of an attorney.
• Nancilee mentioned that 4th graders at Summit Hill Elementary School read a particular book
about a person with disabilities. This would be a great opportunity for MDAC to come and
speak with those students.
• Summit Hill also holds an in-school field trip day where we could possibly set up a booth or
display and educate students more on disabilities.
• Reaching out to Special Education Departments at different schools would be a great way
just to get MDAC in the door at various places.
• Paul and Nancilee are continuing to look at different ways MDAC can pursue speaking at
schools.
• Nancilee also mentioned that the flicks and food truck nights might be a good opportunity
for MDAC to set up a table or booth and spread awareness about the committee. We could
also have a display or van from Sue's store and maybe some activities as well .
• The committee then discussed the possibility of a speakers bureau for adults. Nancilee
brought up the fact that everyone is affected by some kind of disability at some point in life .
• MDAC could be an excellent resource for adults who face various challenges in life.

Old Business:
• Community Pet Day has been moved from November 2014 to March of 2015. Tass will
provide more details as we get closer to March.
• The booth at the Crabapple Festival was a great success overall. Most people attending the
festival were looking for crafts and goodies to purchase, but the MDAC booth did pull some
people in.
• Paul and Tass had a long discussion with a woman who wanted to vent about a number of
items. The lady ultimately stated she would be interested in attending an MDAC meeting at
some point.
• The display from Sue's store was a huge attraction. A number of people stopped to ask
questions about the various pieces of equipment
• All of the materials were great at drawing people into the MDAC booth.
• Dudley brought Mossy, a service dog in training, and she was also good at attracting people
to the booth.
• As Tass stated, there was much to be learned from listening to people.
• The MDAC booth could not offer activities or games due to the small space we were given.
However, no booth had large amount of space at this particular event.
• The parking was also tight and offered a very small amount of handicapped accessible
spaces.
• Tass met a couple of teachers and the owner of the Goddard School in Alpharetta the festival.
She was able to speak with them at length and provide them with lots of information on
MDAC.
• The Goddard School owner is interested in connecting with MDAC and working with the
committee on some activities.
• The committee then discussed more about festivals and booths in general. MDAC is trying to
figure out the best ways to attract and engage people at these types of events.
Tass Welch moved to adjourn the meeting. Ken Woods motioned to adjourn and Van Black seconded
the motion. The vote was unanimous to adjourn. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,
