HomeMy WebLinkAboutMDAC Minutes 09 10 14MTlfoN \r ESTABLISH ED 2006 Milton Disability Awareness Committee Meeting Minutes September 10,2014 Committee Members In Attendance: Tass Welch, Nancilee Wolfe, Van Black, Dudley Arnold and Paul Schiel! MDAC Liaison: Sudie Gordon Guests in Attendance: Hope Winograd Tass Welch called the meeting to order and Paul Schiel! seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. (5-0) Committee members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes from June 11, 2014. Nancilee Wolfe made the motion to approve the minutes and Van Black seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. (5-0) Old Business: • N/A New Business: • Community Pet Day will take place November 9, 2014 @ Community of Christ Church from 1:30-4:00 p.m. • It was decided that a practice date is likely not needed for MDAC. • Tass informed us that two veterinarians and two rescue groups plan to attend Community Pet Day. • An animal owner can bring a photo of their animal if the pet is unable or too large to attend. • MDAC will have a booth set up at Community Pet Day. • There will be a water station and potty area for the animals in attendance. • MDAC also discussed preparation for the booth at the Crabapple Festival on October 4th 2014. • The event will take place from 10am-5pm on October 4th. • MDAC plans on having lots of different materials present for the booth. • Approximately 10,000 people expected to attend the Crabapple Festival. • The MDAC booth needs to be in an accessible spot for the Titans planning to attend and other visitors requiring extra space. • Municipal building will likely have some of the best and most available handicapped parking spaces. • MDAC discussed the possibility of bringing a basketball goal and some other games to the booth. • Set up will begin at 6:00 am on Oct 4th and booths must be all set and ready by 9:30 am. • MDAC will plan on having shifts of people at the booth all day for the festival. • The committee then began discussing some of the logistics for Community Pet Day. • Paul announced he will be serving as an advisor for planning accessibility issues for the new Atlanta Braves stadium. • Paul and Tass are discussing the possibility of visiting some local schools to talk about disabilities. Tass Welch moved to adjourn the meeting. Van Black motioned to adjourn and Nancilee Wolfe seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous to adjourn.
