Milton Disability Awareness Committee
Meeting Minutes
March 11 , 2015
Committee Members In Attendance: Ken Woods , Nancilee Wolfe , Van Black, Dudley Arnold and
Paul Schiell
MDAC Liaison: Sudie Gordon
Guests in Attendance: Hope Winograd
Van Black called the meeting to order and Paul Schiell seconded the motion. The motion passed
unanimously. (S-0)
Committee members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes from February 11 , 2015. Nancilee
Wolfe made the motion to approve the minutes and Van Black seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously. (5-0)
New Business:
• Van took the floor first and discussed Earth Day .
• Jack Lindon and Van met recently at Friendship Park to look at the layout of Earth Day
Festival.
• MDAC should have a huge area and great set up for the Earth Day Festival.
• Friendship Park is definitely the best location for Earth Day in terms of space and
accessibility.
• The Titans will be attending this Earth Day event with MD A C.
• Ken took the floor next to discuss the Special Needs Certification of the City of Milton.
• This is certainly a wonderful accomplishment for Milton. It is now the first city in the United
States to have this certification.
• MDAC members continue to ponder ways to stay relevant and connected with its
community.
• The similarities of MDAC and Better Together have been discussed and people have
wondered whether the two committees should merge.
• N ancilee discussed some of the goals of Better Together and while there are similarities,
many differences exist.
• MDAC is a unique committee and certainly has plenty to offer its community.
• As things have evolved within the City of Milton, MDAC strives to continue making an impact.
• Ken suggested MDAC members look into having a special retreat and brainstorm ideas on
staying relevant and moving in the right direction.
• Paul has a wonderful suggestion for MDAC and believes the committee should reach out to
sister cities and spread its message and ideas to a wider area.

• The MDAC business packet and recent suggestions to Jim Cregge and the parks and
recreation department have made a great impact
• Ken was re-elected for another term and plans to stay on board through May 31, 2017 (at
least).
• The committee then discussed some possible replacements for Sue Sharpe.
• Paul knows a person who appears to be a great fit and is very interested in MDAC.
Old Bus ines s :
• Community Pet Day is all set for Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Community of Christ Church in
Milton.
• The event will be held from 1:30-4:30 P.M.
• More details on Community Pet Day will be discussed at the April meeting.
Van Black moved to adjourn the meeting and Ken Woods seconded the motion. The vote was
unanimous to adjourn. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
