Update from Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) The Milton Comprehensive Advisory Committee (CPAC) hosted an Open House to present a draft of the City of Milton Comprehensive Plan's Community Assessment report to the citizenry for their review and provide a status report on the Crabapple Plan Update process as initiated by Mayor and City Council earlier in the fall. The Community Assessment is typically Be first phase of the Comprehensive Plan process, based on the Georgia Department of Community Affairs guidelines. The Community Assessment PowerPoint presentation was managed by John Ford, AICP with the firm of BWH, Inc. Mr. Ford broke down the Community Assessment presentation into three distinct areas, the Data Analysis, the Character Area Map, and the Quality Growth Objectives. The Data Analysis component discussed the existing conditions within the City of Milton, specific to demographic, economic development, housing trends, naturallcultural resources, community facilities, transportation, land use, and intergovernmenta1 coordination. The Character Area Map broke down various portions of the city into categories based on their land use typology and provided a rationale as to their basis for these developmental assignments. Mr. Ford concluded the evening discussions with an analysis of Milton's Quality Growth Objectives which described developmenhl patterns, sociaVeconornic development, and resource conservation. Mr. Ford" status report on the Crabapple Plan Update process focused on the "Interim Issues" within the Crabapple District, central to necessary transportation improvements and developmental use restriction thresholds, while preserving a rural hamlet context for the Crossroads Area. Mr. Ford outlined several different possibilities which could be either be to keep the density totals the same as currently prescribed or modify them at the conclusion of the Comprehensive Plan process through the involvement of the public and the Community Agenda. After no further business, the Work Session adjourned to the Comprehensive Advisory Plan Committee Open House. Date Approved: March 3,2008 leanhe R. ~archiafav~City Clerk ' Joe Lockwbod, Mayor b
