HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION NO. 08-03-26STATE OF GEORGIA COUNTY OF FULTON RESOLUTION NO. 08-03-26 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL TO �"" APPROVE THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security makes available funding under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program; and WHEREAS, such funds are awarded directly to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect first responders and the public by funding support materials and equipment; and WHEREAS, the primary goal of the AFG grant program is to assist local fire departments' capabilities by providing essential equipment to respond to emergencies, assuring that departments have adequate protection from fire and fire related hazards; and WHEREAS, the City of Milton has applied for funding through this program; and WHEREAS, the funding, if awarded, shall be used to purchase a "Cascade System" trailer to provide air and light at a fire or other emergency scene; and WHEREAS, evidence authorizing the acceptance of said application may be provided to assist in the application process. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT SO RESOLVED, this 17`" day of March, 2008, by the Mayor and Council of the City of Milton that the submission of the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant application is hereby approved; and if awarded the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the award package with directives under the Department of Homeland Security.
